Description

Support device for cycles. The object of the invention is a support device for cycles applicable to bicycles and motorcycles, and comprising a rod which can take two positions, in one of which it is arranged along the rear fork, while in the other, it is directed downwards and obliquely outwards, so as to rest on the ground.

The support device according to the invention is characterized by a bent rod with unequal arms and whose short arm is rotatably mounted in the ends of a stirrup with unequal arms, intended to be fixed on the rear fork of the cycle, and the arm long is forced, by a spring, to press forcibly against a plate having two notches, one of which is horizontal and corresponds to the rest position of the rod and the other ver .. ticals, and corresponds to the position operation, these notches being separated from each other by a ramp with two slopes.

The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the device according to the invention. Fig. 1 is a front view, in which the long arm of the support device is interrupted in its middle part. Fig. 2 is a side view of part of a cycle to which the support device is applied.

A caliper 1 with a bolt 2 makes it possible to fix the device on the rear fork 3 of a cycle 4. The two branches 5, 6 of said caliper, the lengths of which are unequal, have holes through which passes the short arm 7 of a rod, the support rod 8, provided at its free end with a small shoe 9. A spring 10 rests on one side against the branch 6 and, on the other, against a washer 11, fixed by the stud 12 on arm 7; this spring tends to maintain the support 8 against the branch 6, but it allows it to move away from it by sliding the free end of the arm 7 into the hole in the branch 5, where it is slidably engaged.

The branch 6 has two notches 13, 14, one of which is horizontal and the other vertical, and between which is located a ramp 15 with two slopes. These two notches respectively constitute the two rest seats of the rod 8, in which it is in the rest position or in the operating position. It can switch from one of these positions to the other by the effect of a force exerted on the arm 8 tending to make it go up on the ramp 15 against the action of the spring 10.

Naturally, the various construction details shown in the drawing may vary without departing from the scope of the invention.
