Description

Process for the preparation of a water-soluble mixed aromatic-aliphatic diazoamino compound. The main patent No. 143023 protects a process for the preparation of a water-soluble, mixed aromatic-aliphatic diazoamino compound. It is characterized in that the diazo compound of 4-chloro-2-toluidine is allowed to act on sarcosine in the presence of an acid-binding agent.

It has now been found that one also arrives at an excellent water-soluble, mixed aromatic-aliphatic diazoamino compound which, moreover, shows all the valuable properties of the diazoamino compound protected by the main patent, if the diazo compound of 4-chloro-2 -amino-l-methylbenzol.in the presence of an acid-binding agent. on a-butylaminoethanesulfonic acid.

Example: The diazonium salt solution of 1 gram molecule of 4-chloro-2-amino-1-methylbenzene, prepared in the usual way in dilute hydrochloric acid with sodium nitrite, is allowed to stir well into the soda-alkaline aqueous solution of 181 parts by weight of sodium s-butylamino-ethanesulfonic acid run in and stir until no more diazo salt can be detected. The diazoamino compound that forms separates out in an oily form and becomes well crystalline after a short time.

When the coupling is complete, 10% sodium chloride is added, the mixture is filtered off with suction and dried at a temperature below 100 °, advantageously in vacuo.

The yield corresponds to .90% of theory. Other acid-binding agents such as potassium carbonate, bicarbonate, magnesium carbonate, lye, etc. can also be used. A water-soluble, slightly colored powder is obtained which breaks down into its components on treatment with acid.
