Process for the preparation of an acidic dye of the Änthraehinone series. It has been found that valuable blue, acidic dyes are obtained in good yield if a 1-amino-4-halogen-anthraquinone-2-sulfonic acid of the following formula is used:
EMI0001.0009
or their salts with a Bz'-amino-diphenyl-methane-2-carboxylic acid of the following formula:
EMI0001.0012
or their salts condensed.
The new dyes of the following formula:
EMI0001.0014
where g is a sulfo group, Y is a carbogyl group and where the like of the diphenylmethane radical substituents can keep ent, such as. B. an alkyl group, OH-, 0-alkyl, halogen, COOH group or the like, can also be used as starting materials for the production of other dyes. The new dyes dye wool and silk in very real tones.
The same blue, acidic dyes are obtained if a Bz'-amino-dipbenyl-methane-2-carboxylic acid is condensed with a 1-amino-2,4-dihalo-anthraquinone and converted into the 1-amino-2-halogen obtained in this way -4-arylidoanthraquinones the halogen atom in the 2-position of the anthraquinone radical is replaced by the sulfonic acid radical, expediently by treatment with alkali metal sulfites.
It has also been found that the blue, acidic dyes obtained in this way can be converted into new dyes with completely changed properties by treatment with concentrated sulfuric acid or similar agents, such as, for example, chlorosulfonic acid. The conversion takes place even under very mild reaction conditions, especially at low temperatures. Here, brown to gray to green dyes are mainly obtained from the blue starting materials.
Clear information cannot be given about the constitution of the new dyes, but the assumption that ring closures occur under the dehydrating effect of the sulfuric acid is very likely. , The subject of this patent is a method for the preparation of an acidic dye of the anthraquinone series, which is characterized in that 2'-amino-diphenylmethane-2-carboxylic acid with 1-amino-4-bromo-anthraquinone - 2 - sulfonic acid condensed in the form of their sodium salts in aqueous solution and in the presence of a small amount of copper chlorine.
Example: 20 parts by weight of 2'-amino-diphenylmethane-2-carboxylic acid (obtainable from the o-amino-benzoylbenzoic acid lactam described in Swiss patents No. 142151 and 144205 by splitting to form o-amino-ben - zoylbenzoic acid and subsequent reduction. Colorless needles F.
P. 135-136 0) are dissolved in 300 parts by weight of 50% sodium carbonate solution with moderate heating, 24 parts by weight of 1-amino-4-bromoanthraquinone -2 - sulfonic acid are added and 1 part by weight of finely powdered copper chloride is added. The mixture is kept at a gentle boil until there is no more dye formation. The dye is then deposited by acidification with dilute hydrochloric acid.
For cleaning, the dye is redissolved from dilute soda, washed with 10% sodium chloride solution and dried at 60-70 °. In this way, the dye is obtained in fine, violet, metallic shimmering crystals in good yield. Wool and silk are dyed in beautiful blue tones.
The dye dissolves in cold, concentrated sulfuric acid with a blue color, which, however, changes from green to brownish green after a short time. When the sulfuric acid solution is diluted, a brown, flaky precipitate is formed.
