Process for the production of non-magnetic iron alloys. The present invention relates to a method for producing non-magnetic iron alloys.
The production of non-magnetic iron alloys of the cast iron type, which are used as a cheap material for a wide range of elec tric uses, is known. As has been shown, there is now a need for an alloy which has similar magnetic properties, but is resistant and at the same time mechanically machinable and which forges. rolling us-, v. let. The manufacture of alloys. which, with a higher tensile strength, the properties mentioned l @ es @ isseli. encounters, however, considerable haggards.
It is known that for the purpose of maintaining BEZW. Stabilization of the out-MD ie non-magnetic state respectively. the non-magnetic property of molten iron or steel, one or more elements can be added to the iron or steel, where the Z change point (temperature) of the molten austenitic metal experiences such a reduction that the metal remains austenitic even at or below ordinary, cold temperatures so that in this way austenitic,
that is, non-magnetic iron or non-magnetic steel can be produced.
It is also known that manganese, chromium and nickel are suitable additives for the purposes mentioned. in addition, however, other elements can also be present and under certain circumstances have a similar effect, provided that the net result reaches a certain minimum, which depends on the carbon content, iron and steel. This minimum increases in the phase. as the carbon content decreases.
According to the present invention, iron, which has a carbon content of at most 035/00 ', is mixed with at least one heavy metal that is suitable, the alloy

According to the present process, austenitic, low-carbon iron can bezw. such steel are made, which bezw iron. which kind of steel is carbonized: less toff. softer steels can be machined in the usual way, less than 0.2c;
Contains carbon (or less than 0.359o for castings) and has a minimum content of 16.% manganese (or its equivalent in the form of manganese, chromium, nickel and the like).
An austenitic corrosion-resistant iron can be used here. make such a steel. with a content of 0-10% nickel. 6-17 / o chrome and 12 bi o 'to manganese.
To produce austenitic iron or such a steel. which is characterized by a high specific electrical resistance, it is advantageous to add 8-12% manganese. 0-10 ö nickel and 1a-0. ', Chromium added.
These non-magnetic iron alloys can be used with particular advantage for the manufacture of protective sheaths for electrical cables, be it in strip form, be it as sheet metal, or in the form of l, 'olireri.
They are also suitable in an advantageous manner for the production of steel stator end plates. for the production of sub-organs for magnetic circuits. as well as for numerous electrical and mechanical purposes where rust-free and non-magnetic properties are required in combination with strength and machinability.
