Gegenstand der vorliegenden Erfindung  ist ein Verfahren zur Darstellung einer fe  sten, haltbaren     Diazoverbindung,    darin be  stehend, dass man eine Lösung von     diazotier-          tem        1-Amino-2    -     methyl    - 4 -     chlorbenzol    mit       Cadmiumchlorid    versetzt. Das Endprodukt  stellt ein     rötlichweisses,    kristallines, haltba  res, in Wasser lösliches Pulver dar, welches  zur Herstellung von     Azofarbstoffen    Verwen  dung findet.  



  <I>Beispiel:</I>  Eine aus 143 Teilen     1-Amino-2-methyl-4-          chlorbenzol,    500 Teilen 20%iger Salzsäure  und 70 Teilen     Natriumnitrit    dargestellte       Diazolösung    wird mit einer Lösung von 130  Teilen kristallisiertem     Cadmiumebl.orid    in  130 Teilen Wasser versetzt. Die     Diazoverbin-          dung    scheidet sich alsbald als     Cadmiumdop-          pelsalz    aus. Die     Abscheidung    kann durch  Zusatz von Kochsalz     vzrvollständigt    werden.

    Das     Diazosalz    wird     abfiltriert        und    in übli  cher Weise fertig gemacht. Es stellt ein     röt-          lichweisses,    kristallines, haltbares, in Was  ser lösliches Pulver dar, welches zur Her-         stellung    von     Azofarbstoffen    Verwendung  findet.
