Ce dispositif est caractérisé en ce qu'il comporte un organe intermédiaire mo bile auquel sont articulées, d'une part, l'une des extrémités d'au moins deux premières bielles d'égale longueur qui sont articulées par leur autre extrémité à l'un des corps ro tatifs et qui sont disposées de manière à déterminer, avec le premier corps rotatif et l'organe intermédiaire, au moins un premier parallélogramme articulé;
Les fig. 1 et 2 sont des croquis explicatifs du fonctionnement -du dispositif suivant l'in vention; La fig. 3 est une vue de côté montrant seulement les parties principales du disposi tif; La fig. 4 est une coupe latérale -de, la fig. a, faite selon la ligne A-B-C-D-B-r-G. vue de la. gauche et montrant seulement la moitié droite à partir de la ligne centrale de la locomotive, les bielles étant enlevées; La fig. 5 est une vue latérale détaillé d'une roue motrice;

Le mouvement de translation de l'un des disques n'influence (pour autant que le mou vement ne dépasse pas certaines limites dé pendant de la disposition relative des bielles) pas le mouvement de l'autre disques, en raison: de ce que dit .au point 1 sus-in- diqué. En effet, le système articulé selon la fig. 2 correspond au cas indiqué au point 1 ci-dessus: le système est assimilable à un système de cinq bielles articulées bout à bout selon un contour polygonal ouvert; à savoir: 1 le grand disque (portion a c); 2 les bielles 12- et 13;
Device for transmitting rotational movement between rotating bodies whose axes of rotation are at least approximately parallel. The present invention relates to a device for transmitting rotational movement between rotating bodies whose axes of rotation are at least approximately parallel.
This device is characterized in that it comprises a movable intermediate member to which are articulated, on the one hand, one of the ends of at least two first connecting rods of equal length which are articulated by their other end to the one of the rotating bodies and which are arranged so as to determine, with the first rotating body and the intermediate member, at least one first articulated parallelogram;
and .to which intermediate member are articulated, on the other hand, one of the ends of at least two second connecting rods of equal length, which are articulated by their other end to the second rotating body and which are arranged so as to determine, .with the second rotating body and the intermediate member, at least one seeon, cl .. articulated pa.rallèlogramme. The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the device applied to an electric locomotive.

Fig. 9 is a detailed side view of a second connecting rod which connects the gear wheel with the intermediate member; and FIG: 10 is a horizontal section of FIG. 9, made along the broken line D - J- K-D, of fig. 3, showing at the same time part - of the gear-wheel and part. of -the intermediate organ which are. connected -at both ends of a connecting rod -According to fig. 9.
In electric locomotives having an electric motor attached to a supporting frame carried by springs from the bearings of the driving axle, the rotational movement provided by the motor is transmitted to the driving axle via a speed reduction gear - For this, a pinion wedged on the shaft of the electric motor is meshed with a toothed wheel attached to the drive axle. Due to the suspension, at. spring from the chassis - therefore also from the engine - it happens that; while the locomotive is running, the distance between the shaft of the electric motor and the driving axle varies, due to the oscillations of the chassis.
The result of this is that the angular speed of the driving wheels is not constant, which makes it practically impossible to directly transmit the indicated portion. Usually, use is made of a flexible transmission arrangement, which is placed between the gear wheel and the driving axle or between the gear wheel and the driving wheel, supporting the gear. gear shaft in mesh mesh with the pinion attached to. the shaft of the electric motor and-keeping it at a constant distance from the shaft- of the electric motor.
Among the types of transmission & movement devices invented so far. some are provided with a hollow driving axle through the cavity of which passes an intermediate shaft, one end of which is connected to one end of the driving axle and the other end of which is connected to the gear wheel using a universal coupling of any type respectively. Others of these devices are provided with a wheel shaft -d'en-, (; hollow renage whose diameter is one per greater. Than that of the axle of the wheel.
the latter passing to. through that hollow shaft. the gear wheel and the drive wheel are connected by coil springs in a tangential direction at several points. It is possible, thanks to these devices, to transmit the rotational movement, even when the distance between the two axes varies. In some of these devices, the. gear casing and the driving wheel are connected by two levers with a toothed segment at one end pivoted in the center to. the gear wheel and by a pair of connecting rods -pivotated at one end to the driving wheel, the other ends of the levers and connecting rods being connected to each other.
The devices of the first two types mentioned have the disadvantage of great difficulty in execution. Devices of the latter type have the drawback that they do not allow equal speeds to be obtained for the gear wheel and for the driving wheel, unless the axis of the drive wheel coincides exactly with that of the gear wheel. In the latest devices, the presence of levers. with sectors: toothed is also a disadvantage.
The device according to the present invention is established with the aim of obviating these drawbacks of similar known devices. Its construction is relatively simple and allows, as will be seen below, to obtain only two bodies. rotating between which it serves to transmit a rotational movement, have an angular speed always equal, even when the distance between the axes of rotation of these bodies varies during walking,
provided that these axes remain at least approximately parallel to each other. The principle of the operation of the positive device according to the invention is based on the following two considerations: 1) Either a system of at least three connecting rods articulated end to end in such a way that the right-hand segments join the articulation points of these connecting rods form an open polygonal outline. In such a system, one of the end links can move, within certain limits, relative to the other end link.
?) Let four connecting rods equal two to. , leuz in length and articulated end to end (the way to form a closed contour in which the equal connecting rods are not consecutive. In this case, the straight segments, joining the two points of articulation of each connecting rod, will form always a parallelogram, even if their angular positions vary.
We can easily admit the. first point without demonstration, it is obvious. The @eeond point could also go without proof, since it is an elementary geomotor property, however we will examine it. in order to better understand the. after.
In fig. 1, 1 is a disk that can rotate around 2 as an axis. 3 and 4 are two connecting rods of equal length, articulated by their ends on the one hand at 5, respectively at 6, on the disc 1. "and, on the other hand, at the ends 8, respectively 9, of another connecting rod 7. The distances between the pivot points 5 and 6 on the one hand and $ and 9 on the other hand are equal. The four points 5, 6, 7 and 8 therefore determine the summits a parallelogram, that is to say a quadrilateral whose non-adjacent sides are respectively equal and parallel.
We can assimilate disc 1 to. a connecting rod of length equal to the connecting rod 7 and say that we have, in the case (the fie. 1. a system of articulated connecting rods corresponding to, uelui considered in point 2) above.
In such a construction. it is not necessary to prove that line 8 and 9 is always parallel to. the, line connecting 5 and 6, even when 3 and 4 turn by taking respectively 5 and 6 as centers. (The dashed lines indicate another position of the connecting rod 7, perform the same angular displacement when they rotate, because if the disc 1. rotates to the right taking axis 2 as its center, the .value of l ' angle a that 1a.
line 5, 6 and line 8, 9 all make heavens with a horizontal line? vl, i1 'passing through the center of axis 2 will vary during the rotation of disc 1, but as the two -rights must always be parallel to each other, the angles a which the two straight lines in question form with the horizontal line Vil. N always remain equal to each other.
In other words, the straight line connecting 5 and 6 and the straight line connecting 8 and 9 perform: the same angular displacement and they never perform between them any relative angular displacement.
By analogy, the connecting rods 3 and d do not perform relative angular displacement. Theoretical figure 1 relates to the case of four connecting rods located in the same plane, therefore to the case of relative movements: of translation in two dimensions. Of lines 8. 9 and 5, 6.
As a variant, it is also possible to envisage the case where the four connecting rods are not located in the same plane, on condition, to remain within the scope of the invention that the connecting rod 7 (that is to say the theoretical line 8, 9) always moves parallel to a certain plane containing points 5 and 6. It would therefore be a three-dimensional relative movement. Any suitable means could be adapted for the construction of the links of the connecting rods.
The case where there are more than two connecting rods such as 3 and d- (that is to say having the same length) pivoted by one of their ends on the disc 1, at a point situated on the passing line by points 5 and 6, and by their other end at a point of the connecting rod 7 located on the right. 8, 9 (these connecting rods being in these conditions always parallel to 3 and 4), is theoretically the same as that of FIG. 1, in that the operation of this arrangement is the same as indicated above.
This case is therefore also a variant of the following one. fig, 1.
Fig. 2 schematically shows an embodiment of -dispositif according to the present invention, used to transfer a rotational movement between two rotating bodies 10 and 14.
10 is a large disc rotating around its geometric axis.
14 is a small disc rotating around its axis 0 (perpendicular to the plane of the drawing). Axis 0 is parallel to the axis of rotation of disk 10.
11 is an annular body connected on the one hand to the disc 10 by two connecting rods 12 and 13 and, on the other hand, to the disc 14 by two other connecting rods 15 and 16. The connecting rods 12 and 13 are of the same length.
They are articulated in n, b, c, d respectively, to the disc 10 and. To the body 11, so that the four pivot points or journals a, b, c and d determine the four vertices of a parallelogram (that is, ac is equal to bd and ab equal to cd). The portions ac! Of 10 and bd of 11 are therefore comparable to two connecting rods 12 and 13, a system @ articulated according to fig. 1.
In what follows, the annular body 11 will be called the intermediate member because, as will be seen below, it serves as an intermediary between 10 and 14.
The other two connecting rods - 15 and 16 are of the same length and pivoted at points e, f, respectively g, la, forming the four vertices of a second parallelogram (i.e. we have: e. g equal fh and ef equal < I> to g h).
The eg @ portion of the intermediate member and the fh part of the disc 1 are comparable to two equal parallel connecting rods constituting, with the connecting rods 15 and 16, a second sys articulated teme according to fig. 1.
The bodies 10 and 1-1 are therefore connected by! 'Intermediary of two articulated systems according to FIG. 1,: having a common element: the intermediate member 11. It can be said that 10 and 14 are joined by two articulated systems according to FIG. 1 arranged in series, by analogy to what is usually understood by the word "series".
From what has been seen above, we re mark the following facts: When the great! disc 10 rotates around its axis, the intermediate member or ring 11 rotates at an angular speed equal to that of this large disc, thanks to the properties of the quadrilateral a, b, -c, < I> d.
: In addition, the small disc 14 rotates around its axis 0, at an angular speed equal to that of the intermediate member 11. thanks to the connecting rods 15 and 16. Consequently, the small disc 14 rotates at the same angular velocity than the great! disc 10.
It is evident that no difference in angular velocity occurs between the -two- discs, even when the axis of one of them sc moves rapidly relative to that of the other, it is that is to say when the distance between these axes varies, the latter remaining parallel.
The translational movement of one of the discs does not influence (as long as the movement does not exceed certain limits due to the relative arrangement of the connecting rods) not the movement of the other discs, due to: . in point 1 above. Indeed, the articulated system according to FIG. 2 corresponds to the case indicated in point 1 above: the system is comparable to a system of five connecting rods articulated end to end according to an open polygonal contour; namely: 1 the large disc (portion a c); 2 the connecting rods 12- and 13;
3 the intermediate organ 11 (portion b-d-g-e); 4 the connecting rods 15 and 16; 5 the small -disk 14 (portion f h).
The discs therefore constitute the end connecting rods of the contour in question.
The above is an explanation of the case where the two axes of rotation are parallel to each other, but if the joints at the junction points between the connecting rods are established for this purpose, the device according to the present The invention can produce practically the same effect, even in the course where the two axes of rotation are only approximately parallel to each other.
Figs. 3 to 10 relate to an application of the embodiment of the device according to FIG. 2, applied to an electric locomotive. Only parts of the locomotive head are visible.
17 is a drive wheel attached to one end of a drive axle 18; 19 is a bearing, 20 is a frame supported by a spring 21 of the bearing 1.9. The frame 20 can only move up and down relative to the bearing 19, and therefore a ussi relative to the drive axle and the drive wheel. 22 is an electric motor supported by the frame 20. 23 is the shaft of 2 2. ? 4 is a pinion attached to one end of the motor shaft, and 25 is a bearing attached to frame 20.
226 is a meshing meshing ink wheel. with the pinion 24 and can rotate freely around a journal 27. The journal 27 is supported at the lower part of a bracket 8 attached to. the lower part of the bearing 5 integral with the frame 20, the distance between -) 7 and the shaft 23 of the electric motor is therefore constant.
29 is an intermediate member corresponding to the member 11 of FIG. 2 and connected by a pair of connecting rods 30 and 31 with the gear wheel 26 by means of pins 32 and 34 and crank pins 33 and 35, so as to. form an articulated system equivalent to. four connecting rods forming a parallelogram. In this case, the rods 30 and 31 constitute two opposite sides of the parallogram and the part of 29 between 32 and 34, -on the one hand, and the. part of 26 between 33 and 35, on the other hand, constitute the other two sides: of the parallelogram.
The intermediate member 29 is connected in the same way by another pair of connecting rods 36 and 37 to the. drive wheel 17 by means of journals 38, and 40 and crank pins 39. and 41 so as to form a second articulated system equivalent to four links forming a parallelogram. The four joints are spherical, in order to transmit the movement in a perfect way, even when the driving axle 18 moves slightly axially and so as to avoid the forces of the mechanism when the shaft 2.3 of the motor electric and the driving axle 1,8 of the wheel are not parallel to each other. the other.
42 and 43 are holes made in the gear wheel 26 to allow the axes -39 and 41 to pass through. The rotation of the electric motor is transmitted from the pinion 24 to the gear wheel 26 and to the driving wheel 17 by means of . of the articulated connecting rod system.
Small differences between the angular velocities of the gear wheel and of the drive wheel can occur when the two axes of rotation are no longer parallel. one to. the other but these differences are so small that they are practically negligible. A shock is never transmitted to the gear wheel by the device. even when the driving wheel swings vertically rapidly.
Compared to similar devices used up to. now on electric locomotives, the device described therefore has the advantage of allowing transmission of the rotational movement between: two rotating bodies without belt or gearing, without angular speed difference between these bodies as long as their axes of rotation remain parallels.
The device could naturally be used elsewhere than on electric locomotives.
