Process for the preparation of a polyazo dye. It has been found that a valuable, clear green polyazo dye is obtained if the diazo compound is obtained from diazotized 4,5-dichloroaniline-2-sulfonic acid and 1-amino-2-naphtholethyl ether-6- sulfonic acid available azo dye with 3 "-amino-4" - methoxybenzoyl-4'-aminobenzoyl -1-amino-8-naphthol-3,6-disulfonic acid of the formula

coupled, the coupling product dianotized and coupled with 1-methyl-3-phenyl-5-pyrazolone. Example: The diazo-azo compound prepared in the usual way from 5205 parts by weight of the azo dye from dianotated 4.
5-dichloro-aniline-2-sulfonic acid and 1-amino-2-naphthol-. At 5-100 , ethyl ether-6-sulfonic acid is mixed with one of 587 parts by weight of 3 "-amino-4" -methoxybenzoyl-4'-aminobenzoyl-1-amino-8-naphthol-3. 6-disulfonic acid of the formula

5000 parts by weight of water, 60 parts by weight of concentrated ammonia, and 1100 parts by weight of pyridine-prepared solution combined.
The formation of the very clear, green-tinged blue azo dye will very soon end. It is salted out, recently dissolved, 69 g of sodium nitrite are added and the mixture is acidified with hydrochloric acid while cooling. The diazodisazo compound precipitates, is filtered off and, after elutriation with water, combined with a soda-alkaline solution of 174 parts by weight of 1-lkl_ethyl-3-phenyl-5-pyrazolone. The formation of the clear, green azo dye is complete after stirring for twelve hours. As usual, work will continue.
The dye is a black, shiny bronze powder and draws onto the vegetable fiber in clear, yellowish green tones.
