Appliance for cooking food. The present invention relates to an apparatus for the. cooking food, especially for cooking. pressure cooking at temperatures above 100.
This device is characterized in that it comprises a cover which is held on the body of the device itself by an external bracket not integral with the body of the. pot, elastically connected to the cover, the fixing of the bracket and consequently of the cover on the body of the apparatus being obtained by an adjustable member, fixed in a removable manner on the body of the apparatus, a @ audible warning device being mounted on the cover.
The appended drawing gives, by way of example, an embodiment of an apparatus according to the present invention and also shows an example of an audible warning device.
The, fig. 1 is an overall view of the apparatus in axial vertical section; Fig. 2 is a detail of the fixing of the caliper; Fig. 3 is a view of another form of the body of the apparatus; Fig. 4 shows in section, and at. an enlarged scale, the audible warning device @ in fig. 1; Fig. 5 is a detail of the upper part of this device.
The apparatus consists of a pot body 1, which a. was chosen in the present example with a double wall 1, 2 between the parts, of which there is a thermal insulator 4. The latter is only on the side of the pot and stops at 3, thus leaving the . heat transmitted to the bottom of the pot entering it, but not allowing it to escape afterwards.
On the pot is the cover 5 provided with its. periphery of a seal 6 and hand held in place by a caliper 7 and by the intermediary of a spring 10. The caliper 7 carries in its middle a cylindrical boss It in which s' hires a man chon 8; between the two is housed a strong res flange 10, a nut 12 ensures the reunion @de the caliper and -du cover. .
At one of its ends, the stirrup 7 carries a pin 13 formed with the stirrup and engaging in a corresponding housing 14 integral with the pot. This housing is shaped so as to allow the pin 13 to enter or exit easily.
The other end 15 of the stirrup is hand held pressed against the pot by a thumbscrew 18 screwed into a yoke 16.
The yoke 1.6 is also provided with an axis 17 similar to the axis 13 @de the caliper and engaging in a housing identical to 14 and diametrically opposed to the latter.
This part of the device works as follows: As soon as the pressure at. the inside of the pot protrudes. pressure of the lid on the latter, the lid lifts and lets the steam escape between the seal 6 and the upper edge of the pot. The variable pressure of the spring 10 due to the possibility of adjustment coming from the screw 18 makes it possible to adjust the cover for all the desired pressures, the latter thus forming a safety valve and preventing the pressure from exceeding a determined pressure, the screw with block of screw 18 corresponding to the maximum pressure not to be exceeded.
We could provide the edge of the head with the. screw 18, for example, marks serving as a reference for adjusting the spring pressure 10.
The body of the pot, instead of being sheet metal and. double wall as mentioned above, could be in cast iron, steel or molten aluminum, etc. and should in this case be provided with ribs as shown in fig. 3.
Fig. 2 shows in more detail the yoke 16, the screw 18 and the axis 17 @de the yoke. The same accommodation as. 14 was designated there by 14a. The pot is fitted with an audible warning device intended to signal that the pressure necessary for cooking the food contained in the pot has been reached, in order for example to save fuel by ceasing to feed the fire or by reducing the diet.
The audible warning device as shown in. fig. 4 is an integral part of the cover which has for this purpose a bos sage 8 in the form of a hollow cylinder, the upper part of which is at. both threaded and ta raudée.
The cylinder 8 surrounds a tube 17, the upper part of which forms the whistle 18. This tube, guided by the part 28 screwed onto the upper part of the sleeve 8, can move inside the latter.
At the lower part of the tube 17 is arranged a piston 29 housed in the cylinder 8, this piston being integral with the tube 17.
Between the tube 17 and the cylinder 8, and based on the one hand on the piston 29 and on the other hand under the part 28, is arranged a flexible pleated tube 40, which, when the piston 29, moves, under the action of. the pressure in the pot can undergo a deformation which modifies its length, a deformation which ceases at the same time as the pressure exerted on the piston.
In the tube 17 is a rod 19 provided at its lower end with a conical part 20 which is applied to a seat of the piston 29.
A plug 30 is placed on the tube 17, allowing the rod 19 to pass through its center, which carries at its end a head 31 serving as a support for a spring 24, thanks to a shoulder 32. This spring is supported by another starts on a shoulder 3 @ 3 of the stopper '30, thus maintaining the conical part 20 applied to its seat.
The assembly is completed by an adjustment plug 34 engaged on a cylindrical part 35 integral with the part 28. This adjustment plug is provided at its lower part with a bell 3.6 intended to reduce the steam, which s' comes out of the whistle. It carries internally a helical groove 37 forming a ramp and the lower end of which opens at 38 inside the bell.
The operation of this sound alarm is as follows: When the pressure in the pot reaches a determined limit, the piston 29 rises at the same time as the members 17, 20 and 24. The flexible tube 40 is thus compressed. When the upper part 31 of the rod 19 meets the bottom of the adjustment plug 34, the piston and the tube 17 continue to rise, the conical part 20 leaves its seat, the steam enters the tube 17 and actuates the whistle 18 .
Depending on whether the adjustment plug 34 has been screwed in more or less, the bottom of the latter is more or less distant from the head 31 and consequently the regulator is set for a more or less high pressure.
Fig. 5 shows how the bell 36 of the cylinder 34 can be provided with markings, making it possible to realize the position of the latter and the corresponding pressure setting.
The audible warning device shown on the. kettle (fi-. 1) is slightly different from that of the. fig. 4 in that the flexible pleated tube 40 - is replaced by a spring 22 and that the steam no longer acts on the seat 29 of the cone 20, but on a pis ton 16 contained in the sleeve 8. The cone 20 s' then presses on a seat 21 contained in the tube 17.
The shape of the part 23 is such that it is screwed externally on the cylinder dre 8 that it is no longer necessary to tap der.
The operation is identical to the previous one.
