Winding and time-setting mechanism. The object of the invention is a winding and time-setting mechanism which is preferably applicable to vehicle watches and other timepieces permanently fixed. Its aim is to create a very robust construction which can withstand without inconvenience the often exaggerated forces to which the control members of the mechanism are subjected, for example when the motorist has his hands gloved or numbed by the cold.
The object of the invention comprises a winding stem, with the aid of which it is possible to actuate by rotating the stem, either a winding wheel or a time-setting reference, depending on the axial position that occupies the winding stem. This mechanism is characterized in that it comprises a slide on which are mounted the winding rod and gears controlled by the latter, the slide can be actuated using the winding rod, so that one of the moving parts of the aforementioned gears mesh either with a winding wheel or with a time-setting reference.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 represents it from the front; Fig. 2 is a section along the line II-II-II of FIG. 1, while FIG. 3 is a section along the line III-III of FIG. 1.
In the drawing, we can see the plate 1 of the frame, the winding stem 2 with the crown 3, the slide 4, the winding wheel 5 and the time-setting reference 6. The slide 4 is mounted on the plate 1, by means of two tenons 7, 8 driven into the slide and each of which passes freely through an elongated hole 9 respectively 10 made in the plate 1. Against the end of each tenon is fixed by means of 'a screw 11, a washer 12 larger than the hole 9 resp. 10. Thanks to this arrangement, the slide 4 is held on the plate 1 while being movable along and between the limits of the elongated holes 9, 10 of the plate.
In a bore 13 of the slide 4 is adjusted the winding rod 2 integral with the slide by means of a key formed by a head screw 14 mounted on the first bucket slide and whose leg is engaged in a groove 15 of the winding rod , while the head passes through an elongated opening 16 made in plate 1. 11 results in the winding stem 2 being able to turn in the slide 4, while allowing the latter to communicate a backward movement. back and forth. The inner end of the rod 2 comprises a square 17, on which is mounted a pinion 18 housed in an opening 19 of the slide.
This pinion 18 meshes at right angles with a pinion 20 mounted loosely on the tenon 8 and in turn meshes with the winding wheel 5 fitted to a square of the barrel shaft. Thus, if the rod 2 is rotated in the required direction, with the aid of the crown 3, a rotational movement is imparted to the wheel 5, through the intermediary of the gears 18 and 20; it is the operation of winding the barrel spring, a retaining mass cooperating with the winding wheel 5. The position of the slide is ensured by a jumper 21, the nose 22 of which cooperates with the head of the screw 14.
When a traction is exerted on the crown 3, the slide 4 moves towards the edge of the plate 1, so that the head of the screw 14, placed on the side of the spout 22 of the jumper 21, crosses this spout and is placed beyond the latter. The position of the slide is thus again ensured. The aforementioned movement of the slide causes the pinion 20 to move away from the winding wheel 5 and engage with the time-setting transmission 6 partially engaged in a notch 23 of the slide. This position of the slide corresponds to setting the time of the watch hands, because by rotating crown 3, the timer is driven by means of rod 2, gears 18, 20 and return 6.
Certain construction details of the mechanism could differ from the example described with regard to the drawing. Thus, the jumper 21 could be replaced advantageously by a simple: return spring intended to automatically return the slide to its reassembly position so that this operation cannot be forgotten after the setting the time of the hands, because we know that this forgetting would stop the watch.
