Parallélographe repliable. L'objet de l'invention est un parallélogra- plie repliable, du type comportant deux pa rallélogrammes articulés accouplés entre eux et dont l'un porte des règles;
Folding parallelograph. The object of the invention is a collapsible parallelogram, of the type comprising two articulated pa rallelograms coupled together and one of which carries rules;
this parallelogram is characterized in that the two parallelograms are formed so as to be able to be disposed, in the folded position, one on top of the other, forming a regular full parallelepiped, in that these two parallelograms are coupled together. removable manner on one of the short sides of each of them, and in that the rulers are carried by an articulation demon table of the ruler holder parallelogram fixed removably on the other short side thereof.
The object of the present invention is to establish a collapsible parallelograph, occupying in its folded position a very small volume, all the voids between its elements being largely eliminated, by the fact that, when the parallelograph is folded, the two parallelograms that it comprises are arranged one on the other.
It is possible to ensure that the auxiliary elements, rulers, ruler holder and device for fixing the appliance to the drawing table, have dimensions such that, when dismantled and arranged along the folded appliance, it it can be contained with them. in a parallelepiped box whose dimensions are not larger than those used for the only folded device.
The accompanying drawing shows an embodiment of the object of the invention, given by way of example, as well as details and two variants of construction details.
Fig. 1 is a plan view of said form; Fig. 2 shows an elevation of the folded-up apparatus; Fig. 3 is a plan view of the apparatus disassembled to be placed in a box; Fig. 4 is a detail, and FIG. 5 re shows a variant of this detail; Finally, Figs. 6 to 12 show other details of the device.
In these figures, 1 is a plate of tinée to fix the parallelograph described to the drawing table. On this plate is fixed the short side 2 of a main articulated parallelogram; the latter further comprises long sides 3 and 4 and a second short side 5; these sides are interconnected by hinges 6, 7, 8 and 9.
The side 5 is provided in its middle with a tab 10 which, by means of a bolt and a nut 13, can be made integral with one of the other tab 11 belonging to the small side 12 of the ruler-holder parallelogram. The latter is completed by long sides 14 and 15 and by a short side 16 which is provided with a joint 17 carrying at right angles two rules, one of which, 18, is partially visible in FIG. 1; these sides are interconnected by hinges 20 and 21.
As can be seen clearly in FIG. 2, the sides 3 and 4 have a recess such that, when the parallelograph is folded so that the sides of the two parallelograms are applied to each other, the ruler-holder parallelogram is located in said recess, under the parallelogram. main, that is to say between sides 3 and 4 and the fixing plate 1, and that its lower face and the lower end of the hinge 7 are at the same level.
In addition, the tab 10 is lower than the hinges 8 and 9, so that the screw and the nut 13 do not protrude above the short side to which said tab belongs.
The height of the folded parallelograph is therefore the same as that of the hinge 7, its length and that of the main parallelogram, and its thickness is roughly the sum of the thickness of the sides thereof.
The rule holder joint 17 is connected to the side 16 in an easily removable manner by means of a buttonhole shown in detail in FIGS. 7 and 8. Its thickness is such that once dismantled, it can easily be housed in the same box as the parallelograms.
To the outer face of the side 16 is fixed a small metal plate 2: 2 having two ears 23, and the adjacent face of the joint 17 carries two buttons 24 intended for. engage in said eyelets 23. The buttons 24 are shaped like screw heads, so that it is easy to adjust the connection and make it rigid.
The rule 19, which is perpendicular to the rule 18 is connected to the joint 17 so that it can be easily removed. For this purpose it is provided with a fork 25 (fig. 6), engaging in a corresponding groove of the joint. A screw 6 and a nut allow, to fix it.
The rulers 18 and 19 are provided with a positive device which serves to keep them slightly lifted from the drawing, for example when one wants to draw lines in ink, as shown in fig. 4. In their thickness, on the side of the bearing surface, there is provided a groove 27 with an inclined bottom 28; on this bottom slides a wedge 2.9 having the same inclination so that by moving it longitudinally, it is made to exceed more or less the bearing surface of the rule.
The wedge 9 is guided by screws 30 which engage in a slot 31 extending therethrough. rule; it is subjected to the action of a spring 32 which presses it against the bottom .de la. groove.
A variant of this device is shown in FIG. 5 which shows a rule 33 provided with a dovetail groove Ô4 in which a slider 35 slides, the underside of which slightly exceeds the surface of the rule.
To be able to use the entire surface of the. drawing table, one can provide on side 2 of the main parallelogram (fig. 9 and 10) a tab 36 fixed by means of a clip: of usual shape 38, in one of the angles of the table 37. This arrangement makes it possible to carry the ruler even in those parts of the drawing board which are located very close to the point of attachment of the apparatus.
To reduce the weight and the cost price, the sides of the parallelograms are generally made of hardwood rods. However, they can be formed by metal bars; such a variant is shown in FIGS. 11 and 12 where 39 designates a segment of the sides of the main parallelogram and 40 a segment of those of the parallelogram, ruler holder. These sides are formed by C-shaped metal parts, the ends of which form hinge elements 41.
When the parallelograph is open, and fixed by any means (screws, staples or other) to the drawing table, it can be used in the manner of known parallelographs, on which, however, it has the advantage of making it possible to carry the rulers at any point on the drawing board; the sides 14 and 15 of the ruler-holder parallelogram are in fact shorter than the sides 3 and 4 of the main parallelogram, which makes it possible to arrive very close to the binding.
Finally, the elements of the latter can be given sufficient dimensions so that they can withstand the weight of the other parts of the parallelograph without bending.
When we want to fold this device, we loosen the nut of the joint 17, we release the rule 19, we disassemble the said joint 17 and the rule 18, we loosen the nut 13 and we bend the main parallelograms and ruler holder, as shown in fig. 2 and 3, by inserting the free end of the ruler-holder parallelogram between the base of the plate 1 and the recess of sides 3 and 4 of the main parallelogram.
The apparatus thus folded up can be placed in a box with the rulers, ruler holder and device for fixing to the drawing board, the latter, for example in the space limited by the. wall of the box, tabs 10 and 11 and sides 3 and 4.
