Schraubengangnaht <I>a.'</I> umgebildet, worauf die entstandene Fuge durch autogene Stumpfschweissung geschlos sen wird.
Process for the production of metal folded pipes. Metal corrugated tubes have so far been produced in such a way that a seamlessly drawn tube is seen through a rolling or pressing process or with alternately adjacent grooves and beads that the pre-corrugated tube wall is subjected to an axial compression.
Such seamlessly drawn tubes are, since their production requires a number of special operations, quite expensive and in so far not appropriate, as they can only be produced in lengths of about 5 meters. If one considers that with the transfer of such a seamlessly drawn tube into a folded tube, a considerable shortening of the tube length, namely by about 50 to 60%, is inevitable, it becomes clear that only short pieces of folded tube can be aimed that are only below The interposition of special connecting pieces enables the construction of longer pipeline layers.
According to the invention, the procedure is as follows: One of the usual iron bands (so-called band iron) is bent into a smooth-walled pipe and the joint is closed by autogenous butt welding. This smooth-walled pipe is converted into a folded pipe by pre-corrugating the pipe wall and then compressing the corrugations.
This method offers significant advantages in several respects. Above all, there is a considerable reduction in price due to the use of band irons. While the price per kilo of a drawn steel pipe is around Mk. 5, good quality strip iron costs only around Mk. - per kilo. 50. The wages for bending and welding the pipe are only a few pfennigs. Furthermore, tubes of any length, for example 25 m or more, can now be easily achieved, thus also significantly longer folded tubes than before. Finally, the new starting product allows the production of extremely thin-walled corrugated tubes with particularly deep grooves, which makes the duct very flexible.
In the following two exemplary embodiments of the method are explained with reference to the drawing.
Rin iron tape is by known tools either transversely to Fig. 1 to the longitudinal direction or according to Fig. 2 by helical winding to a tube a with a longitudinal seam ä and. The thread seam <I> a. '</I> is reshaped, after which the resulting joint is closed by autogenous butt welding.
This is followed by a pre-corrugation of the pipe wall and then an axial compression of the corrugations, so that the corrugated tube shown in Fig. 3 with the bulges b and the grooves b 'is created, the latter being limited by straight walls which particularly favor the slight flexibility of the line.
