Description

Process for the manufacture of shaped watch cases and boxes manufactured according to this process. The invention comprises a method for the manufacture of three-part shaped watch cases (caseband, back, bezel) and a case manufactured according to this method.

According to this last one prepares a blank of massive middle part of only one piece of form, one practices two beatings of form there, one gives to the bezel and to the bottom a bearing of form corresponding to that of the beatings.

The case is cai, actérisé by the fact that its massive middle part, of a single shaped piece, has two shaped battues and its bezel and its back two shaped staves housed in these battues.

The appended drawing represents, by way of example, a case in the form of a wristwatch, at different stages of its manufacture.

Figs. 1 and 2 are a plane and a transverse section (by the line II-II of FIG. 1) of the caseband of the case in a first phase; Figs. 3 and 4 are a plane and a cross section (along line IV-IV of Fig. 3) of the middle part in a second phase; Fig. 5 is an interior view of the bottom; Fig. 6 is an axial section of the finished box.

The example of execution represented in the form of an octagon comprising four long sides, rectilinear and curvilinear, as well as four short curvilinear sides, inserted between the first; it is made up of three parts: the solid case a, the back b, the bezel c, which will be fitted with the crystal d; the middle part is provided on two sides with a pair of lugs e carrying bars f on which the bracelet, not shown, will be placed.

To manufacture the box in question, we start by stamping in a piece of metal a blank of solid middle case g (fig. 1 and 2) which has the desired octagonal shape and with which the four lugs e have been manufactured. . We then mill in each side of this blank a battue lt or i (fig. 3 and 4) which has a cross section in the form of a half dovetail and the desired shape, instead of 'be circular; a middle heel remains between the two battues.

For their part, the bezel c and the back each have a bearing j or k which has the corresponding arrangement of shape, that is to say not circular, and which is intended to be housed in the battue h. or i of the middle cs. The fact that the battues and the staves are shaped has technical and decorative advantages.

The box may also have hinges. It goes without saying that it can be made of gold, silver, metal, etc., and can have the most varied forms; it may not be a wristwatch case, in which case the lugs e may be deleted.
