Slope indicator for vehicles. The present invention relates to a slope indicator for vehicles. This indicator will preferably be used on cars, where it can be placed on the apron, in front of the driver.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a plan view, the casing removed, the $ g. 2, a rear view, FIGS. 3 and 4, two sections through A-B of fig. 2, views in the opposite direction, and FIG. â, a front view of the dial.
The slope indicator shown comprises a plate a with which are integral two flasks b; between these is rotatably mounted the shaft c. On the latter is fixed the toothed wheel d, whose center of gravity is outside the axis of the shaft c; for this purpose, this wheel has a solid sector dl. On the shaft c is also fixed a piston having a rod e and a plate el; the rod ea in the form of an arc of a circle concentric with the shaft c and the piston moves in a closed chamber e2, containing, for example, glycerin, mounted on one of the flanges b and whose l 'axis in a circular arc, is also concen tric to the axis of the shaft c.
On the rear part of the plate a is fixed a bridge f between which and the plate turns the pinion q; the needle h is mounted on the axis thereof.
When the slope varies, the wheel d, which constitutes a pendulum, turns on its axis c and, by means of the pinion g, communicates its rotational movement to the needle h. The wheel d, by turning, also moves the piston in the chamber e2, which regulates and slows down the movement of the wheel. By unscrewing the screw d2, the wheel d can be given a determined position when the hand h is at zero.
Due to the fact that the piston rod e is in an arc of a circle, it is possible to eliminate any device for transmitting movement between the wheel d and its regulator, which greatly simplifies the apparatus and, consequently, reduces its price and its size.
