Le dispositif des fig. 4 et 5 fonctionne de la manière suivante: Lorsque l'on fait dé marrer le moteur à explosions à l'aide de la dynamo, dans laquelle on envoie le courant électrique de la batterie d'accumulateurs, le disque 33 se déplace par translation sui vant 31 comme il a été indiqué dans le cas des fig. 1 à 3, cette translation n'est pas gênée par la couronne planétaire 7, le tenon 34 du disque 33 coulissant dans les mortaises 40, 42 de cette couronne; le disque 33 vient enfin en prise par les dentures 15, 17, avec la partie 19 du bâti: ce disque est ainsi immobilisé et immobilise en même temps la couronne planétaire 7;
Coupling device of a starting dynamo for automobiles. The present invention relates to a device for coupling a starting dynamo for automobiles, this dynamo being able to operate either as a starting dynamo for starting the engine, or as a generator dynamo, for example for charging a battery. 'accumulators supplying power to receiving devices.
It should first be noted that there is a great difference between the speed of an internal combustion engine and the speed sufficient to start. On the other hand, to reduce the dimensions of the dynamo to a minimum, it is necessary to make it operate at high speed, both as a starting dynamo and as a generator dynamo.
According to the present invention, the coupling device comprises a planetary toothed ring gear, meshing with at least one satellite integral with the motor shaft via a planet carrier plate; the device further comprises a nut screwed onto a screw integral with the shaft of the dynamo and concentric with this shaft, so that the axial thrusts exerted by this screw on this nut automatically change direction when the dynamo passes from operation as a receiver to operation as a generator or vice versa, the planetary crown being thus either immobilized on the frame allowing the satellite to roll on this fixed ring gear and to drive the motor shaft with a suitable reduction (in the case of starting :
the dynamo works as a receiver), or on the contrary connected to the planet carrier plate, which ensures the direct connection of the operation of the motor and of the dynamo shaft (case of normal operation: the dynamo works as a generator) .
Two embodiments of the object of the invention are shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing, in which: FIG. 1 is an axial longitudinal section of the first embodiment along line 1-1 of FIG. 2; Figs. 2 and 3 are two transverse sections respectively along lines 2-2 and 3-3 of FIG. 1; Fig. 4 is an axial longitudinal section of the second embodiment along line 4-4 of FIG. 5; Fig. 5 is a cross section taken along line 5-5 of FIG. 4.
In the device of FIGS. 1 to 3, the shaft 1 of the dynamo which rests on the ball bearings 2 has at its end a screw 5, on which a nut 6 is screwed so that when the shaft 1 and the screw 5 rotate without progressing , the nut fi can advance without turning.
A planetary ring gear 7 rests on the outer surface of the nut 6; a lateral flange 8 is fixed to this crown by a screw 9 and tightens on the nut 6 a ring 40 of leather or other material with a constant coefficient of friction; the crown 7 can thus rotate on the nut 6, but is integral with this nut in its translations parallel to the x y axis of the device: the centering of the crown 7 with respect to this axis is secured by nut 6.
The planetary ring gear 7 is engaged, by its internal teeth, with two planet gears 10, which mesh with a spur gear 25 of the shaft 1 of the dynamo and whose pins 11 are carried by a plate 12; this plate 12 is integral with the shaft 13 of the explosion engine and rests on the ball bearing 14.
Two rows 15 and 16 of claws in the form of ratchet teeth are provided on the opposite sides of the crown 7 and respectively arranged opposite the claws 17 of a part 19 of the frame and cry opposite the claws 18 of the planet carrier plate 12 .
Wolf teeth 26 are provided at the end of the shaft 1 of the dynamo and can engage with corresponding teeth 27 of the shaft 13 of the explosion engine. A compressed spring 28 is interposed between the shafts 1 and 13 and constantly tends to keep these two shafts apart from each other, as shown in FIG. 1.
The device described above operates as follows: The various members of the apparatus being placed as indicated in FIG. 1, we close the circuit of the dynamo; the shaft 1 immediately tends to rotate along the arrow 30. The explosion engine opposes a resis torque which keeps the plate 12 stationary. Each of the planet gears 10 rotates around its axis 11 under the action of the pinion 25 of the shaft 1 of the dynamo and tends to rotate the ring gear 7 in the opposite direction to the arrow 30.
Under this action, the planetary ring gear 7 slides on the inclined faces of the ratchet teeth 18 which push back this planetary ring gear 31 along, which ensures that the ratchet teeth 16 and 18 are released.
The nut 6 then moves according to 31, under two actions: first the screw 5 which turns without progressing, tends to advance its nut 6 without making it turn, moreover the crown 7 by turning around a: y drives by rubbing the nut 6 by screwing it on the screw 5; these two actions agree to move the nut 6 along 31 parallel to the x y axis.
The nut 6 drives the planetary ring gear 7 in this translational movement; at the end of the stroke, the claws 15 engage in the claws 17 of the fixed frame 19; the planetary ring gear 7 is immobilized on the frame.
From this moment, the shaft 1 of the dynamo drives the shaft 13 of the motor at a reduced speed by means of the plate 12 and its planet wheels 10 which roll on the fixed ring gear 7.
This results in starting the explosion engine under the desired conditions. As soon as the explosion engine starts the speed of the plate 12 increases rapidly and, as a result of the inertia of the armature, the reactions change direction; the planetary ring gear 7 is driven in the direction of arrow 30 faster than shaft 1.
The whole, nut 6, crown 7, therefore progresses in the opposite direction of 31 on screw 5, until the claws 16 of the crown 7 engage in the claws 18 of the plate 12; the planetary ring gear 7, the planet gears 10, the planet carrier plate 12, the shaft 1 of the dynamo and the shaft 13 of the explosion engine therefore constitute a single unit which rotates around the axis xy; < / I> shaft 1 and shaft 13 are thus in direct engagement with each other, and both turn at the same speed: the motor directly drives the dynamo as a generator, this dynamo then charging the accumulator battery.
If a damage occurs to the starter dynamo or to the accumulator battery, it suffices to fix a crank on the shaft 1 of the dynamo, and to rotate this level by pushing in the opposite direction of 31; the shaft 1 is screwed by its threaded end 5 into the nut 6 which is prevented from advancing in the opposite direction of 31, since the planetary ring gear 7 is stopped by its den ture 16 on the planet carrier plate 12. The shaft 1 thus progresses in the opposite direction to 31 and engages via its wolf teeth 26 with the wolf teeth 27 of the shaft 13 of the explosion engine; the two shafts 1 and 13 are directly coupled to one another, which makes it possible to start the internal combustion engine by hand.
In the rotational movement required for this manual starting, the shaft 1, the planetary ring gear 7 engaged by the claws 16, 18 with the planet carrier plate 12, the planet wheels 10, the shaft 13 of the motor operations form a single block which rotates inside the frame of the device.
This manual starting movement cannot be hampered by the planetary ring 7 if this ring at the start of this movement is engaged by its teeth 15 with the teeth 17 of the fixed frame 19; in this case, in fact, it would suffice to push the shaft 1 of the dynamo in the opposite direction from 31 until the wolf teeth 26 come into engagement with the wolf teeth 27.
In the second embodiment (fig. 4 and 5) the nut 6 and the flange 8 connected to one another by the screws 9 no longer clamp the inner edge of the planetary ring gear 7 together, but a disc 33 connected to this planetary ring 7 by tenons 34 which engage in longitudinal mortises 40, 42 of the planetary ring.
The disc 33 is thus secured to the nut 6 in its following translational movements 31 or in the opposite direction to this arrow, but can rotate relative to this nut. This disc can on the contrary move freely by following translation 31 or in the opposite direction with respect to the planetary crown 7, the tenons 34 then sliding in the longitudinal mortises 40, 42; on the other hand, this disc 33 is integral with the planetary ring gear 7 in its rotational movements around the axis x y.
The disc 33 carries on these opposite faces claws 15 and 16 which can engage respectively with the teeth 17 of a fixed part 19 of the frame and the teeth 18 of a plate 35 made integral with the planet carrier plate 12, by the heads of the screws 11 which constitute the axes of the satellites 10.
The planetary ring gear 7 is housed between part 19 of the frame and the planet carrier plate 12 so that this ring gear can rotate around the xy, axis but cannot take any parallel translational movement. to this axis.
The device of FIGS. 4 and 5 works as follows: When the explosion engine is started using the dynamo, into which the electric current from the accumulator battery is sent, the disc 33 moves by translation sui vant 31 as indicated in the case of fig. 1 to 3, this translation is not hampered by the planetary ring gear 7, the tenon 34 of the disc 33 sliding in the mortises 40, 42 of this ring; the disc 33 finally engages via the teeth 15, 17, with the part 19 of the frame: this disc is thus immobilized and at the same time immobilizes the planetary ring gear 7;
the satellites 10 therefore roll on this fixed planetary ring gear and ensure the drive at reduced speed of the shaft 13 of the explosion engine, as explained above.
When the combustion engine starts, the disc 33 moves in the opposite direction to 31, the tenons 34 sliding in the mortises 40, 42 of the planetary ring gear 7 ;. this disc finally engages by the claws 16, 18 with the plate 35 integral with the planet carrier plate 12: this disc, the planetary ring gear 7 and the planet carrier plate 12 thus form a single block, which ensures direct engagement between the shaft 13 of the motor, and the shaft 1 of the dynamo for the operation as a generator of this dynamo.
It will be noted that all the preceding movements are carried out by the sliding of the disc 33 alone, the planetary ring gear 7 taking only rotational movements around of x J, but no translational movement parallel to this axis.
The elimination of any translational movement of the planetary ring gear 7 has the first advantage of facilitating the passage of the dynamo from standstill to running into a starting dynamo and from the latter to running as a generator; furthermore, this elimination prevents any unnecessary wear of the teeth of the planetary ring gear and of the teeth of the planet gears by sliding parallel to the sides of these teeth.
In the event of the dynamo breaking down, the hand crank is started in the device of FIGS. 4 and 5 exactly as has already been explained with the aid of FIGS. 1 to 3.
