Device for controlling a rigid panel for closing a bay. The present invention relates to a device for controlling a rigid panel for closing a bay.
Figs. 1 and 2 of the accompanying drawing, given by way of example, represent sections along the line A-B of FIG. 2, respectively along line C-D of fig. 1, through the bay of a garage 1, closed by a door, consisting of a rigid panel 2, for example a wooden panel.
On each side of the frame and against its uprights is arranged vertically an iron bar 3 at U, which- serves as a guide for a pin 4, fixed to the lateral side of panel 2, towards the middle of its height.
The journals are attached to cables 5, guided by return pulleys 6 in the form of drums mounted on a common axis 61, and fixed above the bay. The other end of the cables 5 is fixed to counterweights 7, intended to balance the panel 2.
The upper edge of the panel 2 is provided on each side, at its end, with a support 8, to. roller 9, engaged in a horizontal slide 10, fixed to the cross wall 11, perpendicular to the plane of the bay; by means of supports 12.
The operation of the device described takes place as follows: To open the bay, that is to say to move the panel 2, drawn in solid lines, in order to give access to the garage, the lower edge of the panel is lifted, for example by means of a handle 13. The counterweights 7 will descend in the direction of the arrow 14 of FIG. 1, driving panel 2 through the cables During the upward movement of panel 2, its lower edge will move on an elliptical path 15, while the journals 4 will slide in the vertical U-shaped bars 3 and the rollers 9 will roll in the horizontal slides 10.
This movement will cause panel 2 to oscillate around guided points 4 and 9 and bring it to an extreme horizontal position 2 ", drawn in small lines. In this position, approximately half of panel 2 protrudes beyond the profile of the remaining opening â the exterior where it forms a sort of eave. The counterweights will be in their lower limit position 7 "and the rollers 9 will be at 9". The opening is thus completely open. When the panel is pushed back to the end, it is reduced in the upper part of the garage, against the ceiling.
An intermediate position, drawn in phantom, represents the panel at 2 'and the pin at 4'.
As the dimensions of the bay are large, so as to make it difficult to open or close the bay by hand; by the handle 13, it is possible to use an electric control device, comprising an electric motor 16, with reversible operation, controlled remotely by a switch. The motor drives the drums 6 on which the cables 5 of the counterweights 7 are wound by means of an intermediate speed reduction transmission formed by the gears 611, 17, 18 and 19.
In certain cases, the maneuvering of the panel can be carried out by means of a mechanical control, for example by winch, angle gears with rod and crank, transmission by belt, in this case it is a question of simultaneously controlling several bay panels arranged next to each other etc.
The advantages of the device described lie in the use of a rigid shutter panel in one piece per bay, very advantageous for large bays usually requiring doors with several leaves. By the fact that during the opening of the bay, the shutter panel is reduced to the upper part of the room, against the ceiling, the size of the panel is very small and allows the full use of said opening. .
The device described is particularly suitable as a door to garages, aircraft hangars, large warehouse bays etc.
