Heating device for a motor vehicle, making it possible to use the heat of the exhaust gases of an explosion engine. The subject of the present application is a heating device for a mobile automobile vehicle, making it possible to use the heat of the exhaust gases of an explosion engine, comprising a heating body connected at least by one of its ends. to the gas exhaust pipe, as well as a device for controlling a valve, making it possible to regulate the quantity of gas passing through the heating body.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a partial elevation view of the urn, with parts in section; Fig. 2 is a plan with parts broken away; Fig. 3 is an end view with parts in section; Fig.4 is a vertical section of a detail; Fig. 5 is an end view with parts in section.
The device comprises a heating body and two pipes with fittings, connecting this body to the engine exhaust pipe. The heating body consists of two elbows 10 joined by a force-fitted tube 11 and assembled with the elbows 10 by a rod 12 axially passing through this tube 11 as well as in 13 the walls of the two elbows 10 on which it is clamped by two nuts 14. The tube 11 is itself completely lined with thin metal fins 15, cut with a hole having a flange 16 em bouti. These fins are driven on the tube 11, so as to ensure good contact and the flanges 16 form spacers to determine the spacing of the fins. The heating body thus formed allows the circulation of the exhaust gases in any direction and according to the practical requirements of installation.
The elbows 10 have flanges 17 by means of which they are fixed by nuts 19 on a base 18 in pressed sheet metal; this base 18 is directly fixed at its ends by wood screws 20 on the floor 21 of the body of the vehicle. The purpose of this base, under which the air can circulate, is to protect the floor from the heat given off by the heating body which is covered with a protective envelope 22 made of perforated sheet metal.
In order to be as compact as possible, the heating body is generally placed against a wall, for example against the back of a seat or in front of it. The casing 22 has on the side intended to be backed up, a part 24 filling vis-à-vis the wall, against which the heating body is located, the same role as the base 18 in relation to the floor, that is that is to say, it serves to insulate this wall from the heat given off by the heating body, while providing support to the casing 22.
On the lower part of this side there is a series of air intake holes 23 while the front face is provided over its entire surface with openings 25 allowing the circulation of air and the free radiation of heat. . The two longitudinal sides of the casing 22 have a folded edge which comes to rest on the edge of the base 18. Wood screws 26 ensure the fixing of this casing while completing that of the base 18 itself, in addition to its fixing. independent at its ends.
At one end of the base 18 is the control device mounted on a support 27 fixed on this base. On this support pivots a lever 28 comprising a grooved sector 29 in which passes a control cable 30, the end of which is fixed to the lever; this lever 28 is mounted in friction between two friction discs 31 and in addition the casing 22 which has an opening to allow the lever to pass, has notches 32 which make it possible to fix the position of this lever.
One of the elbows 10 is connected by a pipe (not shown in the drawing) to a valve (fig. 4 and 5) fixed to the exhaust pipe before the silencer.
This valve comprises a body 33 fixed by brackets 34 on the exhaust pipe 35. In this body pivots a flap 36 controlled by a lever 37 subjected to the action of a return spring 38 which tends to hand hold the valve. shutter in its closed position. The cable 30 is connected to the lever 37 at the end opposite to that connected to the spring 38. When the lever 28 is lowered, the cable winds on the groove sector 29 and moves the lever 37 against the action of the spring. 38, which activates the shutter 36.
The other elbow 10 is also connected by a pipe (not shown) to the exhaust pipe or to the silencer.
The operation of the device is as follows: When the control lever 28 is in position A (fig. 3), the shutter 36 occupies the position shown in fig.4, that is to say that the gases of exhaust are not brought to the heating body. If the latter must be heated, the lever 28 is moved, for example, to position B (fig. 3). The flap 36 is then moved in the exhaust pipe 85 so as to divert part of the gases in the heating body. The lever 28 is held in position against the action of the spring 38 by the friction discs 31 and the notches 32 cut in the slot of the casing 22.
Between positions A and B, the lever 28 can occupy intermediate positions, depending on the heat that is desired.
