Abstract

The shutter comprises a butterfly valve (1) which pivots about an axis (2) between the side members of a valve seat (4), with both the valve and seat having chamfered edges. The valve and seat are situated inside a housing (3) made from a refractory material, lined with a two-section metal sleeve (8,9) with sections on either side of the valve seat. The sleeve, of stainless steel, has a flange (9.1) which extends over the end of the housing, with the housing fastening bolts (5) passing through it.
