Rocker arm valve control. The present invention relates to a valve control by: rocker arm, according to which the rocker arm is actuated by a camshaft and characterized in that the rocker arm is provided with: .two arms capable of acting on the periphery of at least a cam established so as to impart to the rocker a reciprocating oscillation movement.
The accompanying drawing gives, by way of example, two embodiments of the object of the. present invention supposedly adapted to an explosion engine.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view of a first embodiment; Fig. 2 is a plan view; Fig. 3 is an elevational view with partial sections of a second embodiment; Fig. 4 is a perspective view of a detail.
This valve control rocker arm, according to the first embodiment, oscillates around a shaft 1; it has two arms 2 and 3 acting by means of rollers 4 and 5 on the periphery of a cam 6 of a shaft 7.
The end of the arm 3 is connected by means of an articulation 8 to the stem of the valve 9 of the engine.
The arm 2 is articulated at 10 and carries at its end a roller 11 that a spring 12, fixed in the fixed part of the arm 2, obliges to press on the periphery of the cam 6. The spring 12 is supposed to be removed at fig. 2.
When this rocker arm is in operation, the shaft 7 by rotating, raises by its cam 6 alternately each of the arms 2 and 3, by acting in turn on the rollers 3 and 4. The roller 11, thanks to the action of the spring 12, pressing on the periphery of the cam 6, forces the roller 5 of the arm 3 to be constantly in contact with the periphery of the cam 6.
When the roller 5 traverses the part of the periphery of the .came 6 having the smallest diameter, the valve 9 will be closed on its seat where it will press by the action of the spring 12. Then: the part of the periphery of the cam 6 of larger diameter will act on the roller 5 and cause the rocker to oscillate around the shaft 1, which will have the effect of opening it. valve 9.
Finally this same part of the. cam 6 will act on roller 4, which will have. the effect of causing the rocker arm to blink in the opposite direction around axis 1 and to return valve 9 to its original position.
The part of the periphery of larger diameter of the cam 6 is of a length such that the roller 4 starts to mount one of the inclined parts which connects it to the part of the periphery of small diameter at the moment when the roller 5 begins to descend. the second inclined part. This arrangement makes it possible to close the valve 9 gradually so that the blocking is not sudden.
According to the second embodiment, the rocker arms of this valve drive necessary for this internal combustion engine can oscillate around a shaft 1 and each of them is actuated by a camshaft 2.
Each rocker arm is provided with two arms 3 and 4 acting by means of rollers 5, 6 with which their end is provided, on the periphery of two cams 7 and 8 with different profile, integral with the 'shaft 2. The profile of these cams 7 and 8 is established in such a way as to impart to the rocker arm a reciprocating movement of oscillation around the shaft 1.
The arm 4 is provided with a projection 9. The butt scorer is provided, on the other hand, with a third arm 10. In the yoke formed by the. projection 9 and the end of the arm 10, pi votes a link 11 connected to a sleeve 12 sliding in a part 13 integral with the cylinder head 14 of the engine. In this sleeve 12 is disposed a piston 15 fixed to the end of the valve stem 16. The sleeve 12 is closed by a screwed cap 17 and between the bottom of this cap 17 and the pin 15 is disposed a damping spring 18 intended to ensure the sealing of the closure of the valve 19 on its seat 20, by causing a progressive pressure of the valve head 19 on the seat during the action of the cam 7 on the roller 6.
