Installation for lifting liquids. The present invention relates to an installation for raising a liquid to. from a closed container by means of a column of air or other gas displaced by the inlet of pressurized water into a closed operating chamber in communication with the air line or the like gas and alternately filled with water and automatically emptied thanks. a siphon and a valve.
In systems of this kind already known, variable and small amounts of air bubbles originating from the atmosphere are entrained with the water inside the closed operating chamber, which air bubbles are then released. , accumulate .in the part of the system containing the air or gas used for operation, and gradually lead to an undesirable increase in the total volume of gas, resulting in a decrease in system performance.
In order to eliminate these drawbacks resulting from the accumulation of air, produced by the entrained air bubbles, the installation according to the present invention comprises a positive device temporarily placing the part of the installation containing the air. Or another gas operating in communication with the atmosphere towards the end of the lifting operation, allows both the excess gas to escape.
The accompanying drawing shows schematically, by way of example, two embodiments .do the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a schematic view of the first embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a view of a detail in section, on a larger scale; Fig. 3 is a view similar to <B> to </B> 1a, FIG. 1, schematically showing another embodiment; Fig. 4 shows a section on a larger scale of the device shown in FIG. 3.
In the drawing, A represents the operating chamber located between the high level 1 and the low level. 2 water, and fitted with a water supply pipe A 'with hydraulic closure leading to a basin G supplied with water from the highest level and also fitted with a pipe Az forming a siphon with hydraulic closure for the outlet of the water from said chamber A.
A valve A3 in the supply pipe A 'controls the entry of water into chamber A and this valve is actuated automatically by a lever F mounted in an articulation, provided with a weight F' at one of its ends and a platform F @ at its other end on which falls,
water from the Aû outlet pipe. B is the air duct communicating with the operating chamber A and the closed receptacles C and CX. D is an open intermediate container and E is the reservoir. The closed container C communicates with the liquid to be lifted, for example water, by a hydraulically closing pipe C1, and with the open intermediate tank D by another hydraulically closing pipe C2.
The closed container Cx communicates with the container D by a pipe Clx and with the reservoir E by another pipe Cûx. The operation of this device is fully described in Swiss Patent No. 99364.
The: automatic air release device comprises, in the example shown in FIGS. 1 and <?, A pipe Dl extending upwards and leaving the closed container C with its lower end placed at. the same height due to the normal level of the liquid in this container or slightly above it at the end of a <B>, </B> necessarily operation, this normal level being arranged for be approximatively as shown in. the. fig. 1.
The upper part of this pipe has a valve (the retainer Dü such as an inclined flap valve shown in fig. \ ?, or a ball valve formed from a rubber composition simply slightly heavier than water and inside the open intermediate receptacle D, the upper end of this pipe being situated slightly above the position of the high level of the liquid in this receptacle. The disposition is such due, when it occurs an accumulation of air, as explained above.
ment, the liquid in the closed tank C will be brought, at or near the end of a forcing operation, below the lower end of the pipe D 'and as this pipe is no longer then closed by water, the liquid will descend into the container, the air escaping through the pipe, passing through the check valve D ', to the atmosphere.
Any liquid which escapes with the air will enter the open intermediate vessel D and add to the liquid - which must be raised. This action will automatically occur at. the. at the end of a forcing operation or towards the end of this operation, whenever there is an accumulation of undesirable air in the system. It will be understood that it is necessary to employ only one pipe D1 and one valve D \\ however many the elevation stages may be.
The: valve D = prevents any atmospheric air from entering the pipe D, when the latter is not closed by water and when the suction operation begins.
In another arrangement, the pipe D 'can also be used to transport the liquid from the container C or Cx, but not both, in place of the hydraulically closed pipe C' or Cx.
In the. second embodiment shown in FIGS. 3 cl: 4, the automatic air release device comprises a 4-, 16 <I> B '</I> arranged in a pipe B2 communicating with the air duct B.
This key is an action born so as to place the conduit B momentarily in communication with the atmosphere by the movement of an element of the system, for example by the initial part of the downward movement of the platform F @ , on which falls the water coming from the operating chamber A.
This downward movement occurs at the end of a forcing operation, just as a suction operation is about to begin. Said key is kept open only for a time sufficient to release any excess air which may exist and is said to close or be closed before the suction operation has actually started.
In the embodiment shown by way of example (FIG. 4), the. key B 'has an arm V connected by a lever b with. the arm of the valve A3 and is arranged in a plug b2 connected to the pipe B =. This bushel has an opening b \ communicating with the atmosphere and the dimension of the duct bx in the key B1 is chosen, with regard to the amplitude of the movement of the key, so that, in the extreme positions of this one,
as indicated by the dotted lines in fig. 4, the Bz pipe is closed. During the downward movement of the platform F2, the key places the pipe BZ in communication with the atmosphere through the opening ba, as shown in fig. 4.
This key position is again reached during the upward movement of the FZ platform at the end of a vacuum operation, but if this opening of the key is not desired or is not necessary, a simple click device can be provided, which or will turn the key during the downward movement of the. platform and release it, so that it can be returned by a res sort or weight to its closed position, in which it remains until the new downward movement of the platform takes place.
