Verfahren zur Darstellung eines schwefelhaltigen Küpenfarbstoffes. Es wurde gefunden, dass man einen neuen Küpenfarbstoff von hervorragender Echtheit erhält, wenn man das Kondensationsprodukt aus 3-Oxy-5#6-benzothionaphten mit 2-Anilen des 2 # 3-Diketodihydrothionaphtens bezw. aus Oxythionaphten mit 2-Anilen des 2 # 3-Diketo- dihydro-5 #

der nachträglichen Behandlung mit Chlor unterwirft. Hierdurch wird nicht nur eine überraschende Verschiebung der Nuance be wirkt, sondern auch die Echtheit der neuen Farbstoffe bedeutend gehoben. Der neue Farb stoff stellt ein violettes Pulver dar und ist unlöslich in verdünnten Säuren und Alkalien, löslich in konzentrierter Schwefelsäure mit grüner Farbe.
<I>Beispiel:</I> 10 Teile des Kondensationsproduktes aus 2 . 3-Diketodihydrothionaphten-2-(p-dimethyl- amino) anil und 3-0$y-5 # 6-benzothionaphten werden unter Rühren in 100 Teile Nitrobenzol eingetragen und bei gewöhnlicher Temperatur mit 6 Teilen Sulfurylchlorid tropfenweise ver setzt. Nachdem alles eingetragen ist, heizt man allmählich auf 170-18011 an und hält so lange bei dieser Temperatur, bis fast kein Chlorwasserstoff mehr entweicht. Nach dem Erkalten verdünnt man mit Alkohol und iso liert den Farbstoff durch Absaugen und Waschen mit Sprit.
Man erhält so ein vio lettes Pulver, das sich in konzentrierter Schwefelsäure mit grüner, in heissem Nitro- benzol mit blauroter Farbe auflöst. Mit Na tronlauge und Hydrosulfit liefert es eine orange gefärbte güpe, aus welcher Baum wolle in echten, violetten Tönen angefärbt wird. Die Färbungen sind etwas blaustichiger als die des entsprechenden Bromderivates.
