(fig.
Safety device for percussion fuze. The object of the invention is a safety device for percussion fuze intended to keep locked the flyweight of such a fuze until the moment when the projectile to which this fuse is adapted leaves the muzzle of the barrel. This device is characterized by a locking member immobilizing the weight during transport and handling of the shell until the moment of firing, that is to say the departure of the projectile, by an auxiliary locking member delaying release. weight until the shell leaves the muzzle of the barrel and by a device preventing any new locking of the weight while the projectile describes its trajectory.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, different embodiments of this object suitable for un-shell.
Figs. 1 to 5 relate to a first form and are FIG. 1 'to 4 of the axial sections showing a fuze fitted with the safety device, respectively before the loading of the shell, during the crossing of the core of the barrel, during the trajectory of the shell and on impact at the time of percussion; and Fig. 5 an end view with the plug removed; Figs. 6 to 9 are views similar to FIGS. 1 to 4 of a second form <B>; </B> Figs. 10 to 12 are axial sections similar to FIGS. 1, 2 and 4 and 6, 7 and 9 of a third form.
In fig. 1 to 5 of the drawing, showing the first shape, a indicates the plug of the rocket. This cap is screwed onto a connecting ring b, which in turn is screwed onto the tubular body c of the spindle. The assembly thus formed is screwed in the usual manner into the eye of the shell e.
The striker is formed by the tip of a screw o, screwed in the axis of the stopper a. The fulminate primer n is carried by a cylindrical weight f, which has an annular groove <B> fi. </B>
'A weak spring p tends to keep the striker and the primer apart.
The safety device comprises two diametrically opposed cylindrical bolts v, which work in two 'openings c' drilled radially in the body c of the rocket.
Each of these bolts has, on the one hand, an axial cylindrical tenon v 'normally engaged (fig. 1 and 2) in the groove f' of the weight and, on the other hand, you) finger rt, # 'e projecting normally and guided in a slot c2 formed in the body c of the rocket parallel to the axis of the openings c '.
During transport and handling of the shell, the bolts v are maintained in their active position (fig. 1) under the action of the spring ï, resting on threaded plugs q closing the openings cl on the outside.
To prevent, under the action of the centrifugal force, these bolts do not release the flyweight f while the shell is still in the core of the barrel, an auxiliary annular bolt t is used, normally maintained by a spring i, resting on the body c, applied against the bottom of a corresponding annular opening made in the connection b (fig. 1) and which engages it by inertia between the edge of the countersink I) l and the two fingers tt ., so as to lock the locks v in their active position (fig. 2)
as soon as the shell starts to move in the soul of the gun. As the shell passes through the core of the barrel, this auxiliary bolt t is brought back to its original position by the spring <I> i. </I> The bolts <I> v </I> then move away under the The action of the centrifugal force developed by the rotation of the shell and frees the weight <I> f </I> (fig. 3).
A ring 7r, mounted to slide following the weight, then comes, under the action of a spring s, to engage between the bodies of the bolts v and the weight. (fig. 3) so as to prevent a new locking of the cylinder from occurring in the event that the force of the springs r should exceed the action of the centrifugal force before the shell has reached its impact.
The friction is sufficient to then maintain the weight in its armed position (fig. 3) throughout the trajectory of the shell. When the latter encounters an obstacle, the - weight is thrown forward on the striker by its live force and thus causes the shell to burst (fig. 4).
Figs. fi to 9 show another embodiment of the safety device suitable for another type of rocket, in which the plug a is screwed directly onto the body c, and in which the screw-striker o is extended into the axis of the rocket into the body c by a cylindrical portion.
In this form of the safety device, the bolts <I> v </I> keep the weight <I> f </I> away from the firing pin (fig. 6) during transport and loading of the shell by the intermediate of a sleeve <I> la, </I> mounted freely on the cylindrical portion of the screw o.
The operation of this form is similar to that of the previous form During firing, the bolts v are locked in their active position by the auxiliary bolt t (fig. 7) which is driven against the action of its spring i by effect of inertia. On exiting the barrel web, this effect ceases and the auxiliary lock t returns to its initial position (fig. 8).
The released bolts v then move apart under the action of centrifugal force and leave the passage free for the sleeve hl, which then comes, under the action of the spring s, to occupy the position shown (fig. 8), in which position it prevents any new entry into action of the locks v. The flyweight f is then armed, ready to command percussion when the shell hits its impact (fig. 9).
Figs. 10 to 12 show another embodiment of the safety device adapted to an English rocket of known type. In this rocket, the plug rz is also screwed directly onto the body c. In this form of the safety device there is only one ver'r'ou v having the shape of a cylindrical plunger of diameter slightly smaller than the width of the groove f '. The auxiliary latch t also takes the form of a cylindrical plunger which works in a lateral cylindrical opening c milled parallel to the chamber of the weight in the body c of the rocket.
This piston <I> t </I> is extended by a rod <I> t '</I> which locks the bolt v in its active position (fig. 11) while the shell passes through the core of the barrel. , when this lock v is released by the rod ztl of a plunger lzl working in the opposite direction of the piston t, against the action of a spring r1, in an opening.
cylindrical c3 milled in the extension of the opening c2. These openings c2 and c3 are closed at their opposite ends by plugs g. The rod u1 is mounted to kneel in the plunger hl so as to be able to come into alignment in the upper angle of the opening e3 as soon as it has released the lock v (fig. 11).
In this embodiment, in order to prevent a new entry as a function of the lock v during the trajectory of the shell, a sleeve 1a is used which is mounted to slide on a portion of reduced diameter of the mass.
