Driving pulley for endless belts of T-shaped section. The invention .a. the object is a drive pulley for endless belts with a T-shaped section.
It comprises two parts, one of which is fixed and the other movable longitudinally on the motor shaft, at least part of the endless belt resting on a support which turns freely around the motor shaft and secured to a member having at the at least one inclined plane intended to cooperate with at least one other inclined plane of a rotating member with the motor shaft, the whole being arranged such that the angular offset, resulting from an initiation of skidding, of the elements driven directly by the motor shaft, with respect to the other elements in immediate contact with the endless belt, produce an energetic approach of the two parts of the pulley in order to cause the drive of the endless belt by lateral clamping of its middle part .
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a side view with parts in section, of a first embodiment; Fig. 2 is a side view with parts broken away and parts in section of a second embodiment; Fig. 3 is a partial view of the louse of the first embodiment.
On the motor shaft 1 (FIG. 1) is mounted a hub 2 movable longitudinally on the said shaft 1. The latter drives the hub by means of keys 3 adjusted with gentle friction. The hub 2 can therefore move a certain amount, in the longitudinal direction, su, the shaft 1.
On this shaft is fixed, at .demeure, the half-pulley 4. The hub 2 also serves as a support for a half-pulley 5, the rim of which has a diameter and a width smaller than the half-pulley 4.
The shaft 1 also drives by its outer end carrying a suitable toothing 6, a washer 7, one face of which is cut in inclined planes and the other of which, united, rests against a special nut $ secured to the shaft 1.
The face, inclined planes of the washer 7 is arranged on another washer 9 integral with the disc 10 which serves as a support for the rim. 11, freely mounted on the 5. The washer 9 and its disc 10 are mounted on the hub 2. They only rest against the flange 12 of this hub.
The central part 13 of the endless belt track comes to fit exactly between the discs of the half-pulleys 4 and 5 provided for this purpose. The flat parts 14 of the che nille, rest on the half-pulley 1 and on the. false rim 11.
The operation is as follows: When due to lack of grip. the half-pulleys 4 and 5 begin to slip on the endless belt, they move at a certain angle with respect to the rim 11 then the latter is not driven by the motor shaft, but that it is in close contact with the caterpillar. So there is a. shifting of the inclined plane washer 7 integral with the drive shaft 1 relative to the other inclined plane washer 9 integral with the rim 11. via the disc 10.
It is easily understood that this offset will have the effect of bringing the half-pulley 5 closer to the half-pulley 4, that is to say to increase the tightening of the middle part 13 of the pin to produce the drive. longed for.
Fig. 2 shows a variant of. pulley shown in fig. 1.
To refer at. In this figure, it can be seen that the shaft 1 drives the hub 2 by means of keys 3 fitted with gentle friction on said hub 2. The latter can thus grout ser longitudinally on the shaft 1, of a suitable length. Two half-pulleys 4 'are permanently fixed to the shaft 1 and the hub 2, respectively, by their respective flanges.
On the half-pulleys are mounted li bres false rims 11 'which match the shape of the track 13. The false rims 11' are joined by means of two flexible discs 15 to. a false hub in two parts 16 and 17. One of the parts of the part 16 of the false hub engages freely in a groove formed on the shaft 1 between the nut 18 which is integral with it and the flange of the shaft .
The part 1 7 carries a thread internally. The inner end of hub 2 bears, on the outside, a thread, but in the opposite direction to that of part 17.
A nut 19 threaded internally and externally fits freely on the hub 2 and in the part 17.
A stop 20 integral with the hub 2, and another, stop 21, integral with the part 17 limit the travel of the nut 19.
Considering due the outer and inner pitches of the nut 19 are in opposite directions, and taking into account the stops 20 and 21, it is understood that, whatever the direction in which the false hub 16, 17 is rotated, relative to the shaft 1. and to the hub 2, the operation of the nut will have. the final effect of bringing together the two flanges of the shaft 1 and of the hub 2.
This being said, the operation of the pulley is as follows: The drive of the track is done via the false rims 11 'which are interposed between the half-pulleys 4' and the track 13, and mainly by lateral pressure of the discs of said half-pulleys against the corresponding part of the false rims 11 '.
The material to be interposed between the half-pulleys 4 'and the false rims 11' must be such that it can give, in all cases, a lower coefficient of adhesion than that of the track on the false rims.
In this way, the slippage will always occur between the rims 4 'and the false rims 11'. This sliding will have the effect of offsetting, via the flexible discs 15, the false hub 16, 17 relative to the shaft 1 and to the hub 2, thus causing, through the play of the nut 19, a longitudinal displacement. to the hub 2 on the shaft 1. This displacement, thanks to the stops 20 and 21, will ultimately result, regardless of the direction of rotation, by bringing the two half-pulleys 4 'closer together, thus causing the tightening required to drive the caterpillar or endless belt 13.
It is obvious that the same result can be obtained by replacing the combination screw and; nut, by inclined planes, paa; example; it is also possible to be satisfied with a single false rim or other arrangements, without thereby changing the basic characteristics of the invention.
