Disjoncteur automatique.
Automatic circuit breaker. The object of the present invention is a circuit breaker the purpose of which is to automatically open an electric circuit when, for any reason, the voltage or current conditions exceed determined limits, the circuit breaker being reset for the closing of the circuit being made impossible by a mechanical interlocking as long as the cause which caused the circuit breaker to trip still exists.
This circuit breaker is remarkable in that a contact brush is carried at the end of a chain formed of two connecting rods articulated together, this chain being articulated at its other end on the frame of the device and being able to be stretched in order to apply said brush in the closed position against the cooperating contact pads, by means of a locking device formed by an arm, one end of which is articulated on the common articulation axis of said connecting rods and by a finger articulated on an integral part of the hand lever, this arm and this finger being able to be arched against each other by their free ends simply in contact.
In the appended drawing which shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention of the bipolar type with minimum voltage and maximum intensity, FIG. 1 is the section along A-A of FIG. 2 of the circuit breaker closed. The open position has been indicated in phantom; Fig. 2 is the front view.
As can be seen in the drawing, the blades 1 of the circuit breaker which come into contact with the pads 2 and form the aforementioned contact brush are mounted in a frame 3. On an axis 4 of the frame are mounted two parts 5 interconnected. at their other end by an axis 6 to form a connecting rod and on this axis are articulated the parts 7 forming a connecting rod and which are movable around the fixed axis 8 carried by the frame 9 of the apparatus. Around the same axis 6, is mounted a part 10 having the approximate shape shown in the drawing and having at 11 a groove in which the movable finger 12 can come to rest around the axis 12 'at the end of the arm. 13 itself secured to the engagement lever 14 operated by the pitch 15.
A spring 16 connects the rod 16 'joining the parts 7 to the arm 13.
Urre cam 17 integral with a finger 18 can oscillate around an axis 19 integral with the bînti. The movement of the cam is controlled by the movement of the rod 20 contained in a minimum voltage coil 22 or a maximum current coil 21. The cam 17 rests on the part 10 that it controls.
The operation of the circuit breaker described is as follows: With the circuit breaker on, the finger 12 pressed into the groove 11 of the part 10 pushes the hinge pin 6 which forms the knee and the connecting rod parts 7 resting on the pin fixed 8 push through the connecting rods 5 the blades 1 of the circuit breaker in contact with the studs 2.
If for some reason the voltage drops below a certain minimum or the intensity increases above a certain maximum, immediately, as the case may be, the core 20 of one of the two coils 21 and 22 pushes the finger 18, the cam 17 pivots, and while pivoting pushes the part 10, the finger 12 then escapes from the groove 11, and the circuit breaker by its own weight and with the help of the spring 16 falls and cut the circuit.
To reset it is necessary to act by hand on the handle 15 so as to pull back the arm 13 and finger 12, but if the cause which caused the disjunction persists, the position of the cam 17, pushed by one of the rods 20, is such that the part 10 is placed so as to prevent the engagement of the finger 12 in the groove 11 of said part 10. The re-engagement is therefore engaged by a mechanical device.
But if, on the contrary, the voltage or the current have returned to normal limits, the rods 20 no longer acting on the cam 17, the latter occupies a position such that the part 10 which rests on it is placed. in a position which allows the finger 12 to engage in the groove 11 when ort pulls back the handle 15 of the lever 14 and, consequently, the arm 13 which is integral with it.
E, ri pushing the handle forward, the finger 12 pushes the part 10 which is guided by the cam, the axis 6 rises and the circuit breaker closes taking the position indicated in the drawing.
