Description

PWENG009CA / 22. 11. 2023 1 English t ransl at i on. doc Lane delimitation arrangement and method for diverting vehicles The present i nventi on rel at es to a I ane deli mi t at i on arrangement and a met hod for di verti ng vehi cl es.
Lane deli mi t at i on el ements are passive rest rai nt systems on roads. Thei r mai n purpose is to prevent vehi cl es from I eavi ng a lane. On the one hand, areas outside the lane are protected from vehi cl e i mpact, and on the other hand, more seri ous effects on the vehi cl e and its occupants due to fall i ng down sl opes or col -I i si ons, e.g. with oncomi ng traff i c or trees, can be prevented.
Furthermore, a reducti on of pot ent i al acci dent consequences i s achi eyed by absorbi ng the ki net i c energy of the vehi cl e through def ormati on or di spl acement of the I ane deli mi t at i on el ement i n the course of an impact.
Mobile lane delimitation el ements are necessary for some appl i -cat i ons. Thi s all ows, for exampl e, constructi on sites to be se-cured and I anes to be qui ckl y built up and di smant I ed or divert-ed. I n the case of hi gh traff i c vol umes, the rearrangement of a I ane deli mi t at i on arrangement to adapt the course of the I ane must be carri ed out i n a part i cul arl y short ti me. I n order to be able to divert traffic flows quickly and efficiently to other I anes, it is necessary to i mpl ement I ane deli mi t at i on el ements quickly and efficiently.
There are, for example, swi vel I i ng, semi-mobile systems with which traffic can be opened on demand and traffic diverted to the opposite lanes. A fl exi bl e, demand-oriented diversion of the traffi c fl ow and/or the di recti on of the traff i c whi I e mai ntai n-i ng the crash barn i er f uncti on i s not possi bl e with these sys-tems.

PWENG009CA / 22. 11. 2023 2 English t ransl at i on. doc I n order to meet the above- ment i oned requi rements, a number of movable and displaceable crash barrier systems are known from the prior art. From EP3569765A1 it is known that stationary as well as movable lane delimitation el ements can be connected by a 1 ocki ng devi ce. The movement process of the movabl e lane deli mi -tat i on el ement and the 1 ocki ng process of the 1 ocki ng devi ce take place one after the other. Particularly in the case of re-tracted lane deli mi tat i on el ements, the posi ti oni ng of the lock must be very precise and can therefore only be carried out sl ow-1 y.
It is therefore the obj ect of the i nvent i on to overcome the di s-advantages of the state of the art and, i n parti cul ar, to create a lane deli mi ti ng arrangement and a method for di vert i ng vehi -des which can be executed simply and safely and, in particular, the crash barn i er f unct i on i s mai ntai ned.
The problem is solved by a lane delimitation arrangement and a met hod for di vert i ng vehi cl es accordi ng to the i ndependent cl ai ms.
I n part i cul ar, the task i s sol ved by a lane deli mi tat i on ar-rangement compri si ng at least a f i rst st at i onary lane deli mi ta-t i on el ement and a movable lane delimitation el ement which is movabl e rel at i ve to the f i rst st at i onary lane deli mi tat i on el e-ment. The movable lane delimitation el ement comprises a first end and a second end, the second end preferably compri si ng an art i cul at i on devi ce and the f i rst end compri si ng a 1 ocki ng el e-ment. The f i rst st at i onary lane delimitation el ement has a I ock-i ng arrangement compl ementary to the 1 ocki ng el ement, the mova-bl e lane deli mi tat i on el ement havi ng a f i rst posi ti on i n whi ch the st at i onary and movabl e lane deli mi tat i on el ements are not connected. Further, the movabl e lane deli mi tat i on el ement has a PWENG009CA / 22. 11. 2023 3 English t ransl at i on. doc second posi ti on i n whi ch the st at i onary and movabl e I ane deli mi -tat i on el ements are coupl ed together, wherei n in the second po-si ti on the I ocki ng el ement of the movable lane delimitation el e-ment engages the I ocki ng arrangement of the f i rst st at i onary lane delimitation element. The movement of the movable lane de-li mi tat i on el ement from the f i rst to the second posi ti on i s a pi vot i ng movement. The I ocki ng el ement has a lateral recess for the I ocki ng arrangement of the f i rst st at i onary I ane deli mi ta-t i on el ement or the I ocki ng arrangement of the f i rst st at i onary I ane deli mi tat i on el ement has a I at eral recess for the I ocki ng el ement.
Such a I ane deli mi tat i on arrangement I eads to a si mpl e and qui ck engagement of the movabl e I ane deli mi tat i on el ement i nto the st at i onary I ane deli mi tat i on el ement and the cl osure i s safe and uncomplicated even after a swi vel I i ng movement. Furthermore, the cl osure i s so secure that the requi red crash barn i er function i s mai ntai ned.
The I ane deli mi tat i on arrangement can have a second st at i onary I ane deli mi tat i on el ement, whi ch has a I ocki ng devi ce compl emen-tary to the I ocki ng element. I n part i cul ar, the movable lane de-li mi tat i on el ement may have a t hi rd posi ti on i n whi ch the second stationary lane delimitation el ement and the movable lane delim-itation el ement are connected.
Preferably, the two st at i onary I ane deli mi ti ng el ement s each have a I ongi t udi nal axi s whi ch are arranged subst ant i ally paral -I el to each other.
I n part i cul ar, the I ocki ng el ement i s provi ded to be engageabl e with the I ocki ng device and the I ocki ng arrangement.

PWENG009CA / 22. 11. 2023 4 English t ransl at i on. doc Thus, vehi ci es can be easily and eff i ci ent I y di rected to a fi rst or a second I ane. Si nce the I ocki ng arrangement of the f i rst st at i onary I ane deli mi t at i on el ement and the I ocki ng devi ce of the second st at i onary I ane deli mi t at i on el ement are each compl e-mentary with the I ocki ng el ement, the I ocki ng el ement can be connected to the f i rst and second I ane deli mi t at i on el ements i n the second and t hi rd posi ti ons, respectively, i n an anal ogous manner. This allows the movable lane delimitation el ement to be closed quickly and efficiently in the second and third posi -ti ons. Furthermore, the I ane deli mi t at i on arrangement i s con-structed i n a si mpl e and effective manner and can be used i mme-di atel y as a crash barni er i n both posi ti ons i n whi ch the ci o-sure i s ci osed.
The movable lane delimitation el ement can be lockable in the I ocki ng arrangement and/or the I ocki ng devi ce.
Thi s ensures that the movabl e I ane deli mi t at i on el ement i s not uni ntenti onal I y di spl aceabl e in the second or t hi rd posi ti on and remai ns connected to the other I ane deli mi t at i on el ements even i n the event of external i mpacts, e.g. i n the event of a vehi ci e collision. The movable lane delimitation el ement can be locked but can sti I I be rel eased qui ckl y. Thus, the I ocki ng el ement i s securely and f i rml y connect abl e to the f i rst st at i onary I ane de-li mi t at i on el ement and the second st at i onary I ane deli mi t at i on el ement, respectively, and can neverthel ess be swi veil ed qui ckl y from the second to the t hi rd posi ti on. Thi s makes the I ane de-limitation arrangement particularly eff i ci ent.
The first end of the movable lane delimitation el ement can be retracted compi et el y i nto the I at eral recess of the f i rst or second st at i onary lane delimitation element.

PWENG009CA / 22. 11. 2023 5 English t ransl at i on. doc I n the context of the i nventi on, compi et el y retractabl e means that the f i rst end of the movabl e I ane deli mi tat i on el ement does not protrude i nto the I ane after the cl osure but forms a sub-stant i ally fl at surface. It is of course possi bl e for the sur-face to compri se depressi ons and openi ngs, but these have no si gni f i cant i nf I uence on safety.
At the same ti me, such a cl osure results i n the I ane deli mi ti ng el ement f ul filli ng a tensi I e strength at the I evel of the re-qui red restrai nt performance for vehi cl es accordi ng to current standards i n any retracted state.
Thi s ensures that vehi cl es can safely pass the I ane deli mi tat i on arrangement and do not col I i de with protrudi ng parts. Further-more, t hi s results i n a vi sual I y smooth transi ti on of the lane deli mi tat i on el ements i nto each other for the occupants of the passi ng vehi cl es. Thi s ensures a pl easant and safe passi ng pro-cess.
The f i rst st at i onary I ane deli mi tat i on el ement can have a I ongi -tudi nal axi s and the I ateral recess of the f i rst stati onary I ane deli mi tat i on el ement can have a stop devi ce as a stop for the movabl e I ane deli mi tat i on el ement, wherei n the angl e between the I ongi tudi nal axi s and the stop devi ce is in part i cul ar between and 50, in particular 2 .
Si mi I ar I y, the second I ane deli mi tat i on el ement may al so have a stop devi ce.
The I ocki ng el ement stri kes the stop devi ce when pi voti ng i nto the second or t hi rd posi ti on. Thi s means that no control el e-ments are requi red to bri ng the I ocki ng el ement to a stop exact-PWENG009CA / 22. 11. 2023 6 English t ransl at i on. doc ly in the second or t hi rd posi ti on. The swi veil i ng process i s therefore very simple, not very error-prone and fast.
The movabl e I ane deli mi t at i on el ement may have a I ength of more than 60 m from the f i rst to the second end. The f i rst stati onary lane delimitation el ement and the movable lane delimitation ele-ment have I ongi t udi nal axes whi ch, i n the second posi ti on, have a very acute angle of essentially 3 relative to each other. The resul ti ng uni form surf ace of the I ane deli mi t at i on arrangement without protrusi ons ensures that vehi cl es can pass the I ane de-li mi t at i on arrangement, whi ch is in the second or t hi rd posi -ti on, at a reasonabl e speed. The desi gn of the cl osures of the lane delimitation arrangement provides a very acute angle be-tween the closure parts and at the same ti me a very space- savi ng desi gn, so that the I ane deli mi t at i on el ements can have a wi dt h of I ess than 40 cm, preferably I ess than 30 cm. The I ane deli mi -t at i on arrangement is thus very space-saving and can preferably be used part i cul an I y advantageously in the area of I ocati ons with li mi ted space, for exampl e when the number of I anes i s re-duced due to mai ntenance work on a road sect i on. Furthermore, due to the acute angl e of the I ongi tudi nal axes of the f i rst stationary lane delimitation el ement and the movable lane del i m-i t at i on el ement, the I ane deli mi t at i on arrangement can pref era-bl y be used i n the area of constructi on sites or other pl aces where vehi cl es have to be diverted, without the vehi cl es havi ng to reduce thei r speed si gni f i cantl y, as the curve radii of the lanes are large. This provides a pleasant driving experience when passi ng the I ane deli mi t at i on arrangement and al so ensures the eff i ci ency of the traff i c route on whi ch the I ane deli mi t a-t i on arrangement i s i nst al I ed.
The I ane deli mi t at i on el ements may compri se steel , pl asti c and/or a composite mat er i al . The use of these mat er i al s makes PWENG009CA / 22. 11. 2023 7 English t ransl at i on. doc the I ane deli mi tat i on el ements and thus the I ane deli mi tat i on arrangement as a whol e robust, resi I i ent and resi stant to exter-nal i nf I uences ( e. g. weather, freeze-thaw cycl es, exposure to de-icing salt and/or brine).
The locking assembly and/or the locking devi ce may each have a pi n, the I ocki ng el ement havi ng a compl ementary aperture, or the I ocki ng el ement may have a pi n and the I ocki ng assembly and/or the I ocki ng devi ce each have a compl ementary aperture.
The connect i on between the movabl e I ane deli mi tat i on el ement and the f i rst st at i onary I ane deli mi tat i on el ement or the second st at i onary I ane deli mi tat i on el ement i n the second and/or t hi rd position is thus simple, compact and secure.
In a further van i ant of the i nvent i on, the pi n of the I ocki ng arrangement and/or I ocki ng devi ce may be conf i gured to extend through and i nto the openi ng of the I ocki ng el ement by at least 4 cm i n the second and/or t hi rd posi ti on.
Thi s ensures that the I ocki ng el ement cannot uni ntent i onal I y sl i p off the pi n from the second or t hi rd posi ti on. The prot ru-si on of the pi n i nto the openi ng al so makes it particularly easy to check vi sual I y by an operator or by means of a moni t or i ng de-vi ce whet her the I ane deli mi tat i on arrangement is in the second or third posi ti on.
The lane delimitation arrangement can be provided with a moni -t or i ng devi ce, i n part i cul ar with at I east one sensor. The moni -t or i ng devi ce i s provi ded i n such a way that it can be deter-mi ned whet her the movabl e I ane deli mi tat i on el ement is in the second or t hi rd posi ti on.

PWENG009CA / 22. 11. 2023 8 English t ransl at i on. doc The monitoring devi ce may comprise an optical, electronic or acousti c sensor. For exampl e, the moni tori ng devi ce may compri se a I aser sensor, an ul trasoni c sensor or a capacitive sensor. The moni tori ng devi ce may be connected wi rel essl y or wi red to a con-trol unit that eval uat es the data from the sensor.
Thi s means that the posi ti on of the I ane deli mi tat i on arrange-ment and whet her the lane delimitation elements are securely cl osed can be determi ned remotel y by a wi rel ess or wi red connec-t i on without the need for an operator to be on site. Multi pl e I ane deli mi tat i on arrangements can al so be monitored and/or con-trol I ed remotely to di rect traff i c. Thi s ensures that one or more lane delimitation arrangements can be combined into a lane deli mi tat i on arrangement system or a road switch, whi ch can be monitored remotely and can thus be operated easily and eff i -ci ent I y.
The moni tori ng devi ce can be provi ded such that it can be deter-mi ned whet her the pi n of the I ocki ng arrangement or I ocki ng de-vi ce is in the openi ng of the I ocki ng el ement or whether the pi n of the I ocki ng element is in the openi ng of the I ocki ng arrange-ment or I ocki ng devi ce.
Moni tori ng the engagement of the pi n i n an openi ng i s a si mpl e and safe monitoring method.
The movable lane delimitation element may comprise a lifting de-vi ce and i n part i cul ar a runni ng gear.
The runni ng gear and the lifting devi ce may be provided as one dri vi ng I ifti ng devi ce or separately. Furthermore, the runni ng gear and the I ifti ng devi ce can be desi gned i n such a way that PWENG009CA / 22. 11. 2023 9 English t ransl at i on. doc the movable lane delimiting el ement can be moved without an op-erator havi ng to be on site.
This allows the movable lane delimitation el ement to be raised and pi voted quickly and easily. In a particularly preferred man-ner, t hi s enabl es both the pi vot i ng movement of the movabl e I ane deli mi tat i on el ement and the I ocki ng oper at i on of the movabl e I ane deli mi tat i on el ement with the f i rst and/or second st at i on-ary lane delimitation element. Furthermore, the movable trolley el ement can be swi vel I ed between the posi ti ons without the need for an operator to be on site. I n fact, the movabl e I ane deli mi -tat i on el ement can be moved to the different positions by remote control . Thi s enabl es a part i cul ar I y ef f i ci ent control of the lane delimitation arrangement.
The probl em of the i nvent i on i s further sol ved by a road switch whi ch compri ses i n part i cul ar at I east one I ane deli mi tat i on ar-rangement as descri bed above, wherei n a movabl e I ane deli mi ta-t i on el ement, a f i rst st at i onary I ane deli mi tat i on el ement and a second st at i onary I ane deli mi tat i on el ement are provi ded. The road switch has at I east a f i rst state and a second state. I n the f i rst state, the movabl e I ane deli mi ti ng el ement i s fully retracted i nto the f i rst st at i onary I ane deli mi ti ng el ement and connected thereto. Preferably, the movabl e I ane deli mi t at i on el -ement i s retracted I at eral I y i nto the f i rst st at i onary I ane de-li mi tat i on el ement i n the f i rst state. I n the second state, the movabl e I ane deli mi tat i on el ement i s fully retracted i nto the second st at i onary lane delimitation el ement and connected to it.
Preferably, i n the second state, the movabl e I ane deli mi tat i on el ement i s pi voted I at er al I y i nto the second st at i onary I ane de-limitation element.

PWENG009CA / 22. 11. 2023 10 English t ransl at i on. doc The movabl e I ane deli mi tat i on el ement as well as the f i rst st a-t i onary I ane deli mi tat i on el ement and the second st at i onary I ane deli mi tat i on el ement have I ongi t udi nal axes, wherei n the I ongi -t udi nal axes of the f i rst st at i onary I ane deli mi tat i on el ement and the second st at i onary I ane deli mi tat i on el ement are subst an-t i ally paral I el . I n the f i rst state of the road switch, i n whi ch the movabl e I ane deli mi tat i on el ement i s connected to the f i rst st at i onary I ane deli mi tat i on el ement, the I ongi tudi nal axes of the movabl e I ane deli mi tat i on el ement and of the f i rst st at i on-ary I ane deli mi tat i on el ement have an acute angl e whi ch i s be-tween 10 and 5 and is preferably 2 . In the second state of the road switch, i n whi ch the movabl e I ane deli mi tat i on el ement i s connected to the second st at i onary I ane deli mi tat i on el ement, the longitudinal axes of the movable lane delimitation el ement and the second st at i onary I ane deli mi tat i on el ement have an acute angle whi ch is between 1 and 5 and is preferably 2 . Due to the acute angl e and the resul ti ng I arge curve radii , vehi cl es can safely pass the road switch without having to significantly reduce the speed of the vehi cl es. Thi s means that the road switch can be used to particular advantage without becoming a bott I eneck on a road. It is therefore extremely unl i kel y that t raf f i c will come to a standstill or that vehi cl es will come to a standstill i n front of the road switch.
The road switch i s movabl e from the f i rst state to the second state or from the second state to the f i rst state by pi voti ng the movable lane delimitation el ement of the road switch on a subst ant i ally hor i zont al pl ane. Preferably, the f i rst st at i onary I ane deli mi tat i on el ement as well as the second I ane deli mi ta-t i on el ement are each provi ded with I at eral recesses so that the movabl e I ane deli mi tat i on el ement can be pi voted I at eral I y i nto the f i rst st at i onary I ane deli mi tat i on el ement and/or i nto the second lane delimitation element. Preferably, i n the f i rst state PWENG009CA / 22. 11. 2023 11 English t ransl at i on. doc and i n the second state, the movabl e I ane deli mi tat i on el ement i s pi voted i nto the f i rst or second st at i onary I ane deli mi tat i on el ement, respectively, so that no parts protrude abruptly i nto the cl earance gauge of the I ane. Thi s all ows vehi cl es to pass the road switch safely without the ri sk of col I i si on due to pro-t rudi ng parts. Thi s makes the road switch safe and conveni ent to pass.
The fact that the movable lane delimitation el ement changes from the f i rst state to the second state by means of a pi voti ng move-ment and can preferably be pi voted into the first stationary I ane deli mi tat i on el ement or the second I ane deli mi tat i on el e-ment and can be connected to the f i rst I ane deli mi tat i on el ement or the second I ane deli mi tat i on el ement, the road switch can be pi voted easily and qui ckl y from the f i rst state to the second state or from the second state to the f i rst state. Thi s makes the swi vel I i ng process simple and eff i ci ent. Si nce the pi voti ng movement i s responsi bl e for the change of state of the road switch and the pi voti ng movement si mul taneousl y connects the movabl e I ane deli mi ti ng el ement with the f i rst st at i onary lane deli mi ti ng el ement or the second st at i onary I ane deli mi ti ng el e-ment, the change of state of the road switch as well as the con-nect i on of the movabl e I ane deli mi ti ng el ement with the f i rst st at i onary I ane deli mi ti ng el ement or the second st at i onary I ane deli mi ti ng el ement occurs si mul taneousl y. Thus, the road switch can be qui ckl y and easily moved from the f i rst state to the sec-ond state or from the second state to the f i rst state. Thi s makes the process quick, simple and less error-prone.
Preferably, a road switch has two I ane deli mi tat i on arrange-ments. Thi s all ows vehi cl es to be di rected to different I anes i n a particularly advantageous manner.

PWENG009CA / 22. 11. 2023 12 English t ransl at i on. doc The probl em of the i nventi on i s further sol ved by a method for di verti ng vehi cl es from one I ane to another I ane usi ng a I ane delimitation arrangement as previously described, comprising the following steps:
Rai si ng a movabl e I ane deli mi t at i on el ement, rel easi ng a I ocki ng el ement of the movabl e I ane deli mi ti ng el ement from a I ocki ng arrangement or a I ocki ng devi ce, pi voti ng the movabl e I ane deli mi t at i on el ement over a I ane, lowering the movable lane delimitation element.
The met hod all ows vehi cl es to be easily and safely diverted from one lane to another lane. The connection of the movable lane de-li mi t at i on el ement to a I ocki ng arrangement or I ocki ng devi ce, whi ch i s easy to rel ease, ensures that the movabl e I ane deli mi -t at i on el ement i s securely connected to the I ocki ng arrangement or I ocki ng devi ce and can nevert hel ess be rel eased and moved qui ckl y. Thi s results i n a parti cul an y eff i ci ent process.
I n the process, the I ifti ng of the movabl e I ane deli mi t at i on el -ement can simultaneously lead to the rel ease of the locking ele-ment from the I ocki ng arrangement.
Thus, two steps of the procedure - I ifti ng as well as rel easi ng the I ock - are combi ned, whi ch accel erat es and si mpl i f i es the procedure i n its enti rety.
The I ocki ng el ement of the movabl e I ane deli mi ti ng el ement can pivot i nto a I at eral recess of a st at i onary I ane deli mi ti ng el e-ment after pi voti ng over the I ane.
Thus, the movable lane delimitation el ement is quickly and easi -I y connected to the f i rst or second I ane deli mi t at i on el ement i n the second and t hi rd posi ti on.

PWENG009CA / 22. 11. 2023 13 English t ransl at i on. doc The I ocki ng el ement of the movabl e I ane deli mi tat i on el ement can engage the I ocki ng arrangement or I ocki ng devi ce of a st at i onary lane delimitation el ement by lowering the movable lane delimita-tion element.
By si mul taneousl y I oweri ng and engagi ng the I ocki ng el ement i n the I ocki ng arrangement or I ocki ng devi ce, two process steps are combi ned. This makes the procedure simple and ef f i ci ent .
