Description

Cleaning apparatus for cleaning a rotatable brush roller of a cleaning appliance, and cleaning system The invention relates to a cleaning apparatus for cleaning a rotatable brush roller of a cleaning appliance, comprising a container having a first depression for receiving the main body of the cleaning appliance, said main body being provided with the brush roller, and a water reservoir. The invention further relates to a cleaning system, comprising a cleaning apparatus and a cleaning appliance.
A cleaning appliance of this kind is known from US 8,819,882 B2. Handheld cleaning appliances which have a main body with a handle fastened in an articulated manner thereto, said main body receiving a rotatable roller arrangement, are used, in particular, for cleaning hard floors. The roller arrangement is set in rotation by an electric motor integrated in the cleaning appliance, for example by a battery-powered electric motor. The cleaning appliance is guided over the floor being cleaned. The rotatable roller assembly thereby releases dirt which is stuck to the floor. In addition, the cleaning appliance is provided with a suction mechanism which has a suction slot, said suction slot being arranged adjacent to the roller assembly. The suction arrangement draws up the dirt that has been released by the brush assembly and conveys it into a dirt container arranged in the cleaning appliance.
The cleaning appliance may, in addition, have a mechanism for applying cleaning fluid to the floor being cleaned. The cleaning fluid comes into contact with the brush roller, as a result of which the brush roller can release even stubborn dirt.
A problem that exists in this respect is that in time dirt can accumulate on the brush roller. In order to remove dirt from the brush roller, it is known from the Date recue / Date received 2021-11-04
2 prior art for the main body of the cleaning appliance to be positioned in a cup-shaped cleaning apparatus.
The cleaning apparatus comprises a container with a depression which is suitable for receiving the main body of the cleaning appliance, said main body being provided with the brush roller. In addition, the cleaning apparatus comprises a water reservoir in which a cleaning fluid is located. The cleaning fluid in this case comes into contact with the brush roller. The brush roller of the cleaning apparatus is set in rotation in order to clean it. The cleaning fluid releases the dirt that has stuck to the brush roller during this process, and the dirt that has been released arrives in the dirt container disposed in the cleaning apparatus via the suction slot.
The problem addressed by the invention involves supplying a cleaning apparatus for cleaning a rotatable brush roller of a cleaning apparatus, and a cleaning system having a cleaning apparatus and a cleaning appliance, which cleaning appliance allows simple and improved cleaning of the brush roller.
This problem is solved using the features of claims 1 and 7. The dependent claims refer to advantageous embodiments.
The cleaning apparatus according to the invention for cleaning a rotatable brush roller of a cleaning appliance comprises a container having a first depression for receiving the main body of the cleaning appliance, said main body being provided with the brush roller, and a water reservoir, wherein the water reservoir is flow-connected to the first depression, wherein cleaning fluid introduced into the water reservoir flows automatically into the first depression, wherein the first depression is configured in such a manner that the water reservoir is assigned to the edge of the cleaning appliance which is spaced apart from the brush roller, wherein the brush roller comes to bear at least partially against the base of the first depression.
Date recue / Date received 2021-11-04
3 With the cleaning apparatus according to the invention, it is advantageous for the cleaning fluid to flow out of the water reservoir gradually in the direction of the brush roller. In this way, the brush roller can be prevented from coming into contact with an excessive quantity of cleaning fluid. Furthermore, the flow speed of the cleaning fluid can be adjusted in such a manner that the brush roller can be cleaned quickly and effectively and dirty cleaning fluid can be immediately removed from the depression. With most embodiments of cleaning apparatus, the edge referred to above is the rear edge of the cleaning appliance. The articulated attachment of the operating handle is also located in the region of the rear edge on these cleaning appliances.
The container which forms the cleaning apparatus is usually positioned on a floor for cleaning. In this case, the water reservoir is spaced further apart from the floor than the depression. This means that the cleaning fluid can automatically flow into the depression under the effect of gravity.
The depression may comprise a first cavity for receiving the main body of the cleaning appliance and a second cavity for receiving the brush roller, the first cavity being arranged between the water reservoir and the second cavity. In this embodiment, the depression is adapted to the underside of the main body of the cleaning appliance, which allows the brush roller to be effectively cleaned.
The second cavity for receiving the brush roller is preferably configured in the shape of a semicircular depression which is adapted to the shape of the brush roller.
The first cavity may comprise additional depressions for receiving wheels and the like.
A channel can be introduced into the first cavity, through which the cleaning fluid introduced into the water reservoir automatically reaches the second cavity. The channel ensures that the cleaning fluid goes straight from the water reservoir into the second cavity.
Date recue / Date received 2021-11-04
4 The second cavity may be provided with elevations. The elevations in this case may take the shape of knobs, for example. The elevations result in point-by-point contact between the brush roller and the base of the second cavity, which improves the cleaning action. The elevations preferably have a comb-shaped design in this case. For this purpose, the elevations in the form of knobs may be arranged in comb-like fashion in a line, for example. This kind of arrangement of elevations results in a particularly thorough cleaning of the brush roller.
At least one slot can be introduced into the wall of the water reservoir, through which slot the cleaning fluid introduced into the water reservoir gets into the at least one channel. In this case, the at least one slot is preferably configured in such a manner that the volume flow of the cleaning fluid entering the channel is independent of the level of cleaning fluid in the water reservoir. For this purpose, the slot width of the slot can be changed in a height-dependent manner, for example. The slot width is preferably selected in such a manner that over a 30 s period roughly 100 ml fluid gets into the second cavity via the channel.
The cleaning system according to the invention comprises a cleaning apparatus, as previously described, and a cleaning appliance, comprising a main body which is provided with a rotatable brush roller. The cleaning appliance preferably further comprises a handle connected to the main body in articulated fashion, an electric motor which brings the brush roller into rotation, and a storage battery which supplies electrical energy for the electric motor.
In addition, the main body is preferably provided with a suction mechanism with a suction opening. The suction opening in this case is preferably configured as a suction slot and arranged adjacent to the brush roller on the underside of the main body facing the floor which is to be cleaned. The suction mechanism is Date recue / Date received 2021-11-04 designed to collect dirt that has been released by the brush roller, and convey it into a dirt container arranged in the main body.
The underside of the main body of the cleaning appliance and the base of the
5 depression in the cleaning apparatus are substantially congruent to one another, so that the main body of the cleaning appliance can be inserted at least partially into the depression.
In order to clean the brush roller, cleaning fluid is introduced into the water reservoir. The cleaning fluid flows via the slot and the channel into the second cavity. Here, it comes into contact with the rotating brush roller, wherein the brush roller also comes into contact with the elevations arranged in the second cavity, as a result of which dirt is released and passes into the cleaning fluid.
Due to the rotation of the brush roller, the dirty cleaning fluid is conveyed in the direction of the suction opening in the cleaning appliance, and from there it is drawn up by the suction mechanism and conveyed into the dirt container arranged in the cleaning appliance.
