Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé amélioré pour la préparation de trazodone et son sel de chlorhydrate sensiblement pur. Le procédé comprend la réaction du composé II (comme décrit) avec le composé III (comme décrit) facultativement en présence d'une base inorganique, et d'un catalyseur ; dans lequel, dans ledit procédé la trazodone base libre et/ou son sel de chlorhydrate sont isolés par précipitation à une température plus basse. Le procédé amélioré pour la préparation de chlorhydrate de trazodone (composé I) permet d'obtenir le produit avec une quantité totale de substances alkylantes (comme spécifié dans la description) en tant qu'impureté inférieure à 10 ppm. Le procédé amélioré pour la préparation de chlorhydrate de trazodone (composé I) permet d'obtenir le produit avec une quantité totale de 1-(3-chlorophényl)-4-(3-chloropropyl)pipérazine en tant qu'impureté inférieure à 2,5 ppm.
