Description
=
Functional Plumbing Unit The invention relates to a functional plumbing unit which can be inserted as an insert cartridge into a liquid conduit of a discharging plumbing fixture and has a housing and a jet regulator, whereby the housing has an external thread on the outside which can be screwed into an internal thread of the discharging fixture.
A functional plumbing unit of this type is known, for example, from WO 2004/038112 Al. Despite the fact that this functional plumbing unit has proved successful, it is still capable of being improved.
In fact, the object is to create a functional plumbing unit designed as an insert component of the aforementioned type which is cost-efficient, easy to manufacture and fail-safe.
According to some embodiments of the invention, this object may be solved, in particular, in that the length of the housing is dimensioned such that the external thread and the directly adjacent ring seal at the discharging end has enough room that the housing edge at the inlet end directly adjoins the external thread and that a jet-splitting part which can be joined with the housing is placed at the inlet end.
Thus, the functional unit according to some embodiments of the invention only consists essentially of two, comparatively easy-to-make main components, namely the housing and the jet-splitting part which are joined together and then form the jet regulator.
- la -Another proposed solution according to some embodiments of the invention provide that a perforated plate be monolithically attached to the housing at the discharge end. The functional unit designed according to this solution has a perforated plate on the discharge end integrally attached to its housing which can be screwed into the discharging plumbing fixture, said perforated plate serving as security against vandalism to effectively prevent inadmissible high pressures of the components found inside the housing which leads to leakage.
A further proposal according to some embodiments of the invention thereby provide that the jet-splitting part and the housing each engage in one another when in use with a section of their longitudinal extension and that )an annular offset is provided on the jet-splitting part or on the housing on the outer or inner periphery, said annular offset acting upon the front peripheral area of the respective other component when in use. In this further embodiment, the jet-splitting part and the housing each engage in one another only with a section of their longitudinal extension when in use. A horizontal dividing plane between jet-splitting part and housing is produced by this sectional engagement of these components; since these components do not act upon one another in direction of flow but in a horizontal dividing plane, possible leaks are counteracted without the need for an additional 0-ring or similar ring seal. An improved seal, even without an additional ring seal, between jet-splitting part and housing is also promoted in that an annular offset is provided on the periphery on the jet-splitting part or housing, said annular offset acting upon the front peripheral area of the respective other component when in use. Thus, a complex sealing of the jet-splitter is not required. In the event that water succeeds in passing the jet-splitting part, this leakage water flows into the normal water jet and is not noticed by the end user as troublesome since it impairs the jet. In addition, an embodiment of this type clearly has fewer components and high compactness. Furthermore, the lower overall height clearly offers more freedom for the design of the fixture. It is thereby especially advantageous if the annular offset is provided on the jet-splitting part, preferably on the outer periphery, said annular offset acting upon the front peripheral area of the housing located at the inlet end when in use.
It is advantageous if the housing and the jet-splitting part which can be joined to it each have a preferably peripherally extending locking attachment which engage in one another when assembled. As a result, the two parts can be easily snapped together, but also detached from one another again as required. As a result of the holding elements provided monolithically directly on the parts to be joined to one another, no additional parts are required to hold them together, which simplifies the construction of the functional unit and also promotes a slight overall length.
The external thread provided on the housing part and the ring seal enable the direct installation in the liquid conduit of a discharging plumbing fixture without the need for an intermediate holder having these parts (external thread/ring seal).
This simplifies production and assembly.
The separability of the housing part and jet-splitting part is particularly advantageous if the functional properties of the jet regulator are to be changed. For this purpose, there is space in the housing between the perforated plate of the housing, preferably in the form of a honeycomb plate, and the perforated plate of the jet-splitting part for accommodating one or more grate-like insert parts in spite of the slight overall length.
Dimensioning the housing length in such a way that the external AMENDED PAGE
, , thread and the preferably immediately adjoining ring seal has room, whereby the housing edge on the inlet end almost directly adjoins the external thread, a very compact construction is produced as a result of which the functional unit can also be used in discharging fixtures which, e.g. for design reasons, have little room for accommodating the functional unit. In this way, compact functional units can be realized which make do with an overall height of the insert cartridge, including attachment screen, of about 1.5 cm.
Advantageously, the internal thread of the discharging fixture is spaced at a distance from its mouth which is smaller than the distance of the housing ring seal from the inner end of the external thread of the housing.
As a result, the thread connection already engages during assembly of the functional unit before the ring seal enters into the discharging fixture, so that, in particular, a manual assembly process is substantially simplified. On the other hand, when dismantling, the ring seal can be moved out of the fixture seat by turning the functional unit in axial direction until it is disengaged and before the thread connection is undone.
This assembly and dismantling simplification is of special significance, because the insert cartridge is arranged in the fixture discharge as a "hidden insert cartridge" with at least the predominant part of its longitudinal extension, preferably completely with its entire longitudinal extension.
Advantageously, the jet-splitting part has an insert opening for the attachment screen at the inlet end with an outer ring wall and a bearing shoulder, whereby the holding elements for fastening the attachment screen are designed as click-stop elements and for which the outer ring wall has an undercut and the outer edge of the attachment screen preferably has an, in particular, peripherally extending click-stop projection engaging in the undercut.
The attachment screen can thereby be snapped onto the jet-splitting part on the top and is thus securely held. This contributes to a low manufacturing and assembly expenditure since, on the one hand, the holding elements are formed on the parts to be joined together when they are produced and, on the other hand, the screen can be quickly mounted manually or in an automated manner.
The attachment screen which has been snapped on can be additionally secured in the discharging fixture during assembly. To this end, the ring wall of the jet-splitting part on the inlet end and at least one part of the outer edge of the attachment screen form a stop adjoining an insert stop in the discharging fixture. The insert stop of the discharging fixture thereby covers the screen edge partially or completely, so that the attachment screen is securely held even under disadvantageous conditions.
To simplify the production of the functional unit according to the invention even further and to reduce the required number of individual parts, it is advantageous if the housing is made as one piece with a perforated plate located on the discharge end as part of the jet regulator.
A preferred embodiment of the invention provides that the jet-splitting part is arranged with a monolithically connected, additional perforated plate as part of the jet regulator and/or that the jet-splitting part has holding elements for fastening the attachment screen.
- 5a -According to another aspect of the invention, there is provided a functional plumbing unit that is configured to be inserted as an insertion cartridge into a fluid conduit of a discharging plumbing fixture comprising a housing, which carries an external thread having a height on an outside thereof, which can be screwed into an internal thread of the discharging plumbing fixture, a height of the housing substantially corresponds to the height of the external thread and a ring seal located in a downstream position therefrom, so that the external thread is directly connected to an upstream housing wall, and at least a jet fractionating part is directly connected to and extends beyond the housing at the upstream housing wall, wherein the housing includes a perforated plate formed in one piece with the housing on an outlet end thereof.
According to a further aspect of the invention, there is provided a functional plumbing unit that can be inserted as an insertion cartridge into a fluid conduit of a discharging plumbing fixture, comprising a housing, which carries an external thread having a height on an outside thereof, which can be screwed into an internal thread of the discharging plumbing fixture, a height of the housing substantially corresponds to the height of the external thread and a ring seal located in a downstream position therefrom, so that the external thread is directly connected to an upstream housing wall, and at least a jet fractionating part is directly connected to and extends beyond the housing at the upstream housing wall, the jet fractionating part is provided at the inlet end with an insert opening for an attachment screen.

in combination in an embodiment according to the invention.
The only drawing shows:
a sectional representation of a functional plumbing unit configured as an insert cartridge.
A functional plumbing unit 1 shown in the figure is configured as an insert cartridge 2 which can be inserted in a liquid conduit 3 of a discharging fixture 4, indicated by broken lines, shown only on one side.
The functional unit 1 essentially has a housing 5 with a monolithically attached perforated plate 6 on the discharge end, a jet-splitting part 7 with a one-piece perforated plate 8 and an attachment screen 9.
The perforated plate 6 monolithically attached to the housing 5 on the discharge end also serves as security against vandalism which effectively prevents inadmissible high pressures that can lead to leaks of the components found inside the housing 5.
The housing 5 has an external thread 10 on the outside and, adjacent thereto on the discharge end, a ring seal 12 placed in an annular groove 11. The flow direction is indicated by the arrow Pf 1. With its external thread 10, the housing 5 can be screwed into an internal thread 13 of the discharging fixture 4 and seals by means of the ring seal 12 against the inside wall 14 of the discharging fixture 4.
It can be clearly seen here that the internal thread of the discharging fixture 4 is offset toward the inside, so that the ring seal 12 comes to rest in a thread-free region. To simplify both assembly and dismantling of the insert cartridge 2 in the discharging fixture 4, the internal thread 13 of the discharging fixture 4, on the one hand, and the ring seal 12 of the housing 5, on the other hand, are arranged such that the threads already engage when the ring seal 12 is still outside of the mouth of the discharging fixture 15. This is obtained by spacing the internal thread 13 of the discharging fixture 4 at a distance a from the mouth 15, which is smaller than the distance b of the ring seal 12 of the housing from the inner end of the external thread 10 of the housing. The result of this is also that, when unscrewing the insert cartridge 2 from the discharging fixture 4, the threads remain engaged until the ring seal 12 comes out or has come out of the mouth 15.
To avoid leaks in the area between jet-splitting part 7 and housing 5, the jet-splitting part 7 and the housing 5 each engage in one another with a section of their longitudinal extension when in use.
An annular offset 40 is thereby provided on the jet-splitting part 7 or on the housing 5 on the inner or outer periphery, said annular offset 40 acting upon the front edge 41 of the respective other component 57. It can be clearly seen in the figure that the jet-splitting part 7 here carries the annular offset 40 which acts upon the front edge 41 of the housing 5 on the inlet end when in use.
The jet-splitting part 7 is thereby connected with the housing 5 by a click-stop connection 16.
The click-stop connection 16 is situated on the housing edge 17 which directly adjoins the external thread 10 of the housing 5.
The housing edge 17 has an annular groove 32 on the inside for this click-stop connection, while the jet-splitting part 7 has a torus 33 engaging in the annular groove. Both click-stop attachments preferably extend peripherally.
The click-stop connection 16 provided is configured such that the jet-splitting part 7 can be removed from the housing 5, thus making the housing interior accessible.
, The attachment screen 9 is also connected with the jet-splitting part 7 by means of a click-stop connection 20. This jet-splitting part 7 has an insert opening 21 on the top or at the inlet end, respectively, with an outer ring wall 22 and a bearing offset 23.
The ring wall 22 has an undercut 24 on the inside and the outer edge 25 of the attachment screen 9 has, in particular, a peripherally extending click-stop protrusion 26 engaging in the undercut 24. The attachment screen 9 can consequently be snapped into the insert opening 21 of the jet-splitting part 7 from the inlet end and is, as a result, securely connected with the jet-splitting part 7.
Due to the fact that the parts of the insert cartridge 2 to be joined together, i.e. the housing 5, the jet-splitting part 7 and the attachment screen 9 themselves have one-piece connecting elements, they can be joined together without the need for additional holders.
The housing 5 of the insert cartridge 2 can have a profiled outer contour and/or a profiled front end on the discharge end for attaching an assembly tool. In the embodiment, a profiled annular edge 29, to which an assembly tool can be applied for screwing and unscrewing the insert cartridge 2, is provided on the discharge end. It is especially advantageous if this profiling of the ring edge is formed in such a way that a further insert cartridge 2 can be used as an assembly tool in an inverted position and in which the insert cartridge 2 to be screwed in or unscrewed can engage with its annular edge profiling. For this, in the embodiment, the annular edge 29 has ring wall sections 30 with interruptions in between. The openings 31 are measured in peripheral direction such that the ring wall sections 30 of an additional insert cartridge 2, which is formed the same, fit. Other profiling forms can also be provided instead of this profiling.

The openings 31 are measured in peripheral direction such that the ring wall sections 30 of an additional insert cartridge 2, which is formed the same, fit.
