Abstract
L'invention concerne un procédé de thermoformage d'un article renforcé, qui consiste à disposer d'une feuille en plastique renforcée présentant au moins un matériau thermoplastique et des nanoparticules de renforcement dispersés à l'intérieur d'au moins un matériau thermoplastique. Les particules de renforcement comprennent moins de 15 % d'un volume total de la feuille en plastique, au moins 50 % des particules de renforcement ayant une épaisseur inférieure à environ 20 couches, et au moins 99 % des particules de renforcement ayant une épaisseur inférieure à environ 30 couches. Le procédé consiste ensuite à préchauffer la feuille en plastique; à transférer la feuille en plastique préchauffée dans un premier moule ayant une cavité du moule délimitée par des surfaces du moule, lesquelles correspondent à une configuration de l'article à mouler, une quantité de la feuille en plastique tranférée dans le premier moule étant suffisante pour former une couche de l'article; à appliquer une dépression sur un côté du premier moule simultanément à l'application d'un gaz sous pression sur un côté opposé du premier moule de manière à contraindre la feuille chauffée à épouser les formes des surfaces du moule; et à refroidir la feuille en plastique conformée. Le procédé consiste en outre à transférer la feuille en plastique conformée vers un second moule; à injecter dans la feuille en plastique conformée une matière plastique renforcée fondue constituée d'un matériau identique à ou différent de celui de la feuille en plastique, ladite matière plastique fondue comportant un gonflant capable d'augmenter le volume et la production d'une structure cellulaire réticulée. Le procédé consiste enfin à refroidir ladite matière fondue en plastique pour former un élément en plastique solidifié contrecollé à ladite feuille en plastique conformée pour composer avec elle ledit article, puis à extraire ledit article dudit second moule.
