Abstract
L'invention concerne un système permettant de modifier la force d'adhérence de la glace fixée sur un objet. Ce système comprend une électrode électriquement isolée dudit objet et une source de courant continu, par exemple une batterie, couplée audit objet et à ladite électrode. Cette source produit une polarisation en courant continu dirigée sur l'interface glace/objet, lorsque la glace ferme le circuit. Cet objet, par exemple un semi-conducteur, est conducteur ou dopé, de sorte que la polarisation en courant continu permet d'appliquer une tension à ladite interface, modifiant ainsi sélectivement la force d'adhérence de la glace au moyen d'une tension de polarisation sensiblement égale à zéro au niveau de l'interface. Cette force d'adhérence peut augmenter ou diminuer en fonction de son état statique (c'est-à-dire de son état sans application de tension). La glace du type de celle fixée sur l'aile d'un aéronef peut ainsi être retirée plus facilement. Ce système comprend de préférence une matière électriquement isolante, disposée entre l'objet et l'électrode, la forme de cette matière épousant sensiblement celle de cet objet et de cette électrode. Dans la plupart des applications, ladite électrode comprend une électrode à grille dont la forme épouse celle de l'une des surfaces dudit objet, chaque point de cette électrode à grille étant en contact électrique avec la source. Un isolateur à grille est en outre généralement placé entre l'objet et l'électrode à grille. Cette invention peut être appliquée à de nombreux objets, par exemple l'aile d'un aéronef, le pare-brise d'un véhicule, la semelle d'un ski, le talon ou la semelle d'une chaussure ou d'une botte, ou le revêtement extérieur d'une ligne électrique. Cette invention concerne également un revêtement ferroélectrique, ferromagnétique ou semiconducteur, appliqué sur des lignes électriques afin d'autoréguler la température de ces lignes juste au dessus du point de fusion.
