Abstract
Des matériaux métallurgiques résiduels, qui ne sont pas écocompatibles avec des applications comme le déversement en décharge contrôlée ou le déversement à ciel ouvert ou dans des bassins recouverts de plastique, en raison de la contamination de la nappe phréatique, peuvent être traités pour récupérer les éléments utiles (Zn, Cd, Pb, Ag), et fixer les éléments toxiques (As, Sb, Bi) sous forme de scories écocompatibles. Les matériaux résiduels renferment : a) au moins un composé du fer, qui peut être un oxyde simple ou mixte de fer (hématite, goethite, ferrites et jarosites); b) au moins un métal lourd (Zn, Pb, Cd), récupérable dans des conditions fortement réductrices et par volatilisation; c) au moins un élément toxique (As, Sb, Bi), séparé du fer et stabilité dans la matte ou le speiss. Ce matériau résiduel est soumis à une opération de fusion dans le compartiment (12) d'un réacteur (1) à lance immergée par le haut ou d'un réacteur à alimentation d'air par le fond, en présence d'un réducteur carbonacé, comme du charbon ou un produit de carbonisation, chargé par l'entrée (16) à l'aide d'un régulateur rotatif (14), par injection immergée via une lance (2) ou des tuyères, d'un combustible (huile, gaz naturel ou fines de charbon), et d'un gaz fournissant de l'oxygène (air, air enrichi d'oxygène, oxygène, oxygène et gaz inerte). Des conditions fortement réductrices à la surface de la masse en fusion (22) entraînent la volatilisation de Zn, Pb et Cd. Les éléments toxiques (As, Sb, Bi) sont stabilisés dans la couche de matte ou de speiss de la masse en fusion (22), avec un peu de Zn, un peu de Pb, Ag. Au, Cu, Ni et Co. mesure que la masse en fusion circule autour de l'extrémité de la lance (24) et de la zone de combustion oxydante qui y est associée, les éléments toxiques (As, Sb, Bi) sont oxydés et volatilisés, et s'échappent avec les gaz de carneau par la tuyauterie d'aspiration (18), soit sous forme de métal ou (par oxydation au-dessus de la masse fondue) d'oxyde. Le four (10) possède un trou à scories (26), d'où les scories écocompatibles, à faible teneur en éléments toxiques, peuvent être soutirées périodiquement ou en continu. La lance (20) est protégée du milieu environnant par une couche protectrice de scories (28), se formant lors du procédé.
