Abstract
Apparatus for the selection and screening of blueberries comprising a selector having a conveyor belt consisting of an endless skeleton strip having an upper strand and a lower strand, and three parallel and horizontal rollers, two of which are located at the end one level and one, central, located at a higher level so that the upper strand of the strip describes an ascending section and a descending section. A device, located above the ascending section, allows the dumping of blueberries in bulk containing round blueberries to be preserved and waste to be rejected. The inclination of the slope of the ascending section and the skylight of the strip are chosen to force the flow, by rolling when the carpet is in motion, of the round blueberries in the opposite direction to that of the strip and the movement of the waste in the same direction as this. Integrated into this selector is a screen which can be cylindrical and rotary or a screen with two superimposed and horizontal conveyor belts.
Description
INTRODUCTION

DESCRIPTION DES REALISATIONS PREFERENTIELLES
Il est constitué d'un tapis rotatif à bande cribleuse 6h cylindrique et creuse de construction à claire-voie dont les interstices ou jours ne laissent passer que des bleuets de grosseur inférieure à une grosseur déterminée;

FIELD OF THE INVENTION
5 ~ The present invention relates to an apparatus allowing mechanical selection of healthy blueberries among blueberries received in bulk as well as screening of these healthy blueberries in certain sizes.
~ 10 STATE OF THE ART
According to current usage, the blueberries received the bulk of the picking is winnowed, washed and sorted depending on size and sometimes frozen before being shipped for consumption. This is a job anual obviously tedious and ineffective if one considers that only round blueberries, i.e.
not deformed, must be kept, let it go get rid of crushed or clustered blueberries as well ~ 20 only waste such as branches, leaves and other foreign materials. Indeed, one cannot actually market fresh blueberries in starting directly from blueberries picked in bulk.
~; 25 SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The object of the invention is therefore to replace the manual operations mentioned above by the use of a device capable, by an uninterrupted ; 30 broken down from mechanical operations such as selection and screening, to collect all the healthy blueberries according to their size and after removing those who are crushed seeds or in clusters as well as foreign matter, and this without wetting or breaking them.

~ 2 ~ 0 I actually discovered that by using the rolling property of round blueberries, detached and free, you can easily separate them from other materials foreign included in the bulk and this mechanically and quickly while preserving their shape. We proceed then mechanical screening.
More specifically, my invention, with regard to concerns selection, consists of a device intended selecting and screening blueberries with coach having a treadmill consisting of skeleton endless band having a higher strand and a lower strand, and three parallel and horizontal rollers zontals including two end located on the same level and ùn, central, located on a higher level so what the upper strand of the strip describes a section ascending and a descending section. A device, located above the ascending section, allows the blueberry spill in bulk containing round blueberries to keep and waste to discard. The inclination of the slope of the ascending section and the skylight of the tape are chosen to force flow by rolling When walking the carpet, round blueberries in the direction reverse of that of the strip and the tracing of the waste along the same lines as this one.
The apparatus of the invention may avan-tageu-Be sure to include, at the bottom of the rising section of the mat, a screen capable of sorting blueberries, received from the section ascending, depending on their size. and other means arranged inside and nearby of the screening tape and intended to collect blueberries larger than the specified size and having rolled on the surface of the cylindrical screen band.
It will also be advantageous if the treadmill lant of the selector as well as the cylindrical mat screen can be cleaned with jets of air, arranged inside said strips.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERENTIAL ACHIEVEMENTS
Referring now to Figures 1A to 4, the selector part of the device has a mat rolling consisting of an endless band wound up tower of two horizontal end rollers 2a, 2c, parallel and located on the same level and one of which is coach, and a central horizontal roller 2b located at a higher level so the upper strand of the strip describes an ascending section, on the right, and descending, to the left, as indicated by the arrows under the band. The latter is openwork, of the mosquito type.
quaire, whose interstices do not allow the blueberries pass but let them roll freely while retaining the crushed blueberries and clusters as well as other essential wastes-slightly flat.
~ 20; The rollers 2a, 2b, 2c are mounted on a horizontal frame 5a which is part of a frame and which is supported by four legs 5c. The rollers 2a, 2c can be removed with a 2nd lock that see in Figures lB and lC. The central roller 2b ~ 25 is mounted at its ends on 5g swing arms ; ~ as shown in dotted lines in Figure lA. By adjust ment of this roller, by means of the screw 5i, one can vary belt tension while ensuring great stability rolled 2_.
~ 30 ~ Blueberries in bulk, round, or in bunches, ; crushed as well as the waste is poured over the section upward from a weir 4 located above of it. -It will be understood from the above that , ~
o appropriately choosing the speed of movement of the endless belt and the inclination of its section ascending, we will force the flow, by rotation, of round blueberries in opposite direction to that of the strip (like S indicates the arrow above the strip) and moves it cementing of waste in the same direction as this. We will be able to harvest healthy fruit at the end right and the rest of the bulk at the left end where it can be sent to a new container, under the frame 5a, by means of a funnel 5d.
Figures lB and lC indicate that the roller motor 2a can be driven manually by a crank 2d or motorized by drive including a belt rolls around a pulley illustrated on the right in the Figure lC.
To provide for the cleaning of the carpet, may have recourse to piping 3a with air jets arranged above the lower strand of the strip 1a.
The latter is preferably manufactured of nylon threads intertwined with a diameter of approximately 1.5 mm.
We can give the ascending section of the tape the angle of about 10 ~ with the horizontal and, at the downward section, an angle of about 20.
Figure 2 i] illustrates the use of parapets metallic 5i on each side of the strip without end there. These parapets are intended to contain the healthy blueberries and others on the strip and in particular to channel the few round blueberries, which tend to roll in all directions, to containers side 5f via guide plates 5h to prevent the blueberries from falling on the lower side of the carpet la.
We can also provide a winnowing system -between weir 4 and the endless belt for a first selection.
Figures 1A, 3 and 4 give details of a rotary screen placed at the bottom of the ascending section the treadmill. This screen receives healthy blueberries of different sizes falling from the treadmill.
It consists of a rotating belt with a screening belt 6h cylindrical and hollow skeleton construction whose interstices or days only let pass blueberries smaller than a specified size;
the other larger blueberries remaining on the periphery to be moved there with the screen in the direction indicated qué by the arrows in Figures lA.
Means, in the form of a container 8, are provided inside the screening cylinder to harvest blueberries passing through the strip 6h. Of similar means 6_, 7 outside and near the 6h screening band, used to collect blueberries unable to pass the cylindrical screen and rolling at its periphery, We can plan, from the containers receivers 7 and 8, an endless belt conveyor for mechanical filling of boxes of blueberries.
The apparatus thus described allows a selection and rapid mechanical screening of healthy blueberries and this upon receipt of the bulk, which preserves the value and taste of healthy blueberries much better and longer while still keeping them in a better condition by reducing their handling.
The rotary screen can be rotated by a 6g belt drive system and belt 6i, as seen in Figures 3 and 4. We can also use cross pieces 6f inside 6h 'sieve tape to prevent blueberries ! ~ `
don't get stuck under it. Figure 4 shows, on the other hand, the shape of the receiving container 8 which receives the small blueberries having passed through the strip 6 a.m.
As in the case of the endless belt the of the selector, means 3b with air jets are provided inside the endless band 6h of the screener to clean it. This 6h band is made of threads of interwoven nylon.
Referring now to Figures 5 to 8, it illustrated is a screen with horizontal conveyors which can use as an alternative to the cylindrical screen described above.
It consists of a first conveyor conveyor belt with perforated strip allowing passage blueberries of a certain size the others being driven by the band which is horizontal, endless, and which rotates around the two rollers 61 with side teeth, as shown in Figure 6. These teeth click into place in openings provided along the edges of the bandaged; the edges sliding themselves behind the scenes 8a, 8b mounted on the conveyor frame. These backstage serve to maintain the stiffness and horizontality of the mat which allows the chalne work without the band endlessly stretched lengthwise because it will be by the side slides. A section slides 8_ is removable which allows to remove the tape for repair or cleaning.
This horizontal conveyor screen has also a second conveyor of the same construction as the first except that the perforations of its band without end are smaller than those of the first conveyor. This second conveyor is arranged so as to capture the blueberries falling from the first conveyor. To do this, it is oriented crosswise in relation to the first, preferably at an angle of 90 as shown in Flgure 5.
We will have, at the periphery of each roller end 61 of these conveyors, between the lateral teeth, a cushion on which the endless belt rests, this cushion being intended to release blueberries which could be stuck in the holes in the tape.
Note, under the perforated strips of each conveyor, a large scupper 6i which collects all blueberries and other particles that llon wants to remove when manual selection along the chain. The avan-tage of the perforated strip carpet is that we don't have remove the bad blueberries but let them pass through the screen with your hand or with an air jet who could direct a person who would monitor the blueberries on the conveyor belt. this is much faster and cleaner. Only the big blueberries reach the end of the large screen drills while only medium to large blueberries seur arrive at the end of the treadmill with medium perforations.
Blueberries crossing the medium screen are recovered in the 6k scupper. This is where we find the small blueberries since the large ones are find in 6n and the means in 60.
