Abstract

USO DE RESìDUOS E/OU REFUGOS EM FORNOS ELéTRICOS DE CUBA BAIXA. A presente invenção refere-se especialmente ao uso de materiais residuais e/ou refugos como materiais de uso em fornos elétricos de cuba baixa, sendo que os materiais residuais e/ou refugos são usados para o aproveitamento térmico e/ou como fonte de carbono. O forno elétrico de cuba baixa que pode ser usado para este fim, na maioria dos casos existe na forma com tampa, e possui pelo menos um eletrodo oco para a colocação das matérias de partida. Os materiais residuais e/ou refugos deveriam ser refugos residenciais ou resíduos industriais, ou, como alternativa, resíduos orgânicos e refugos difíceis de serem descartados, tais como medicamentos, sucata eletrónica, substâncias de alto poder calórico e/ou prejudiciais à saúde que também podem ser halogenados. Estes materiais residuais e/ou refugos com um diâmetro de partículas preferido de até 100 mm deveriam ser introduzidos no leito do forno em forma compactada ou extrusada através do eletrodo oco. Em temperaturas de forno entre 1700 e 2500<198>C, os materiais residuais e/ou refugos são transformados até 95% em gases de pirólise, e o carbono obtido é usado como fonte de carbono. Desse modo, a produção de carboneto de cálcio, ferrossilício, ferrocromo etc. pode obter uma considerável economia de energia.
