Abstract

"ELASTÈMEROS DE POLIURETANO MICROCELULARES FLEXìVEIS DE BAIXA DENSIDADE EXPANDIDOS COM DIóXIDO DE CARBONO". A presente invenção refere-se a espumas flexíveis de poliuretano microcelulares tendo densidades não-superiores a 0,3 g/CM¬ 3¬, que são adequadas para uso como componentes de solas de sapato leves, são produzidas com dióxido de carbono em um montante tal que a mistura formadora de poliuretano tem uma densidade em expansão livre de cerca de 0,03 a cerca de 0,3 g/CM¬ 3¬. Pelo menos uma porção desse dióxido de carbono é dissolvido como gás em um ou ambos os componentes da reação. O montante de dióxido de carbono dissolvido deve ser tal que a densidade de espuma do isocianato e/ou do(s) componente(s) reativo(s)-a isocianato em que o dióxido de carbono é dissolvido seja de cerca de 0,1 a cerca de 0,8 g/CM¬ 3¬. Dióxido de carbono adicional pode ser formado pela reação de água com isocianato durante a reação de formação de poliuretano, mas o montante total de CO~ 2~ presente deve ser controlado para assegurar que a mistura formadora de poliuretano tenha uma densidade em expansão livre de cerca de 0,03 a 0,3 g/CM¬ 3¬. Uso de um componente reativo a isocianato preferido em que uma razão especificada de diol para triol é satisfeita torna possível usar mais água do que o esperado. Uso de um pré-polimero preferido torna possível produzir poliuretanos microcelulares tendo boas propriedades físicas somente com um diol. As espumas microecelulares produzidas possuem uma estrutura de célula uniforme e propriedades físicas melhoradas quando comparadas com espumas expandidas somente com água da mesma formulação básica e densidade. A dureza das espumas é mais adequada para aplicações de sola de sapato, particularmente para aplicações de entressoIas, em comparação com as espumas expandidas somente com água, a despeito do teor mais baixo de segmentos duros de uréia das espumas expandidas com C0~ 2~.
