"CEPA DE LEVEDURA (GCSI) TOLERANTE A GLICOSE, INDEPENDENTE DA FONTE DE CARBONO C~ 2~, MéTODO PARA SELECIONAR UMA CEPA DE LEVEDUPA (GCSI) TOLERANTE A GLICOSE, INDEPENDENTE DA FONTE DE CARBONO C~ 2~, MéTODO PARA PRODUZIR áCIDO PIRúVICO E SAIS DOS MESMOS E MéTODO PARA PRODUZIR áCIDO LáCTICO OU SAIS DOS MESMOS". São descritas aqui cepas de leveduras (GCSI) tolerantes a glicose independente da fonte de Carbono C~ 2~, não tendo quantidades detectáveis de atividade decarboxilase piruvato, onde as cepas de leveduras do alelo-selvagem em relação a cepa de levedura tolerante a glicose independente da fonte de Carbono C~ 2~ são Crabtree positivas. São também descritos os métodos para selecionar as cepas de leveduras tolerantes a glicose independente da fonte de Carbono C~ 2~, e os métodos para produzir o ácido pirúvido ou os sais dos mesmos usando a cepa de levedura tolerante a glicose independente da fonte de Carbono C~ 2~. São ainda, aqui descritas, cepas de levedura GCSI tendo um genoma que compreende um gene dehidrogenase de lactato exógeno.
