Um dispositivo (100) para o controle de uma composição ferroviária (105), dito dispositivo (100) compreendendo um modelo da composição (110) adaptado para computar uma função de objetivo (120) dentre um conjunto de candidatos a planos de condução (130) e dentre um conjunto de parâmetros de modelo (140); um identificador de parâmetros (150) adaptado para calcular ditos parâmetros de modelo (140) a partir de um conjunto de medidas da composição (160); e um otimizador da trajetória (170) adaptado para gerar dito candidatos a planos de condução (130) e para selecionar um plano de condução ótimo (180) para otimizar dita função de objetivo (120) sujeita a um conjunto de restrições terminais e restrições operacionais.
