Estampilhas (13) são fixadas em maços de cigarro substancialmente paralelepipedos (2), tendo um eixo geométrico longitudinal predominante (21), e exibindo duas faces terminais (3), duas faces laterais maiores (4), e duas faces de flanco ou laterais pequenas (5), por um processo que envolve transportar os maços (2) ao longo de uma trajetória de alimentação pré-determinada (P1), cada um dispositivo com eixo geométrico longitudinal (21) paralelo à direção de transporte, em direção e através de uma estação (11) na qual a estampilha é aplicada a pelo menos uma face de flanco (5) de cada maço (2).
