são fornecidos um aço de ferramenta de alta velocidade com excelente trabalhabilidade a quente, e excelente resistência a danos quando transformado em várias ferramentas; um material para ferramentas e um método para produzir o mesmo. o aço para ferramenta de alta velocidade contém, em % em massa, de 0,9 a 1,2% de c, de 0,1 a 1,0% de si, de 1,0% ou menos de mn, de 3,0 a 5,0% de cr, de 2,1 a 3,5% de w, de 9,0 a 10,0% de mo, de 0,9 a 1,2% de v, de 5,0 a 10,0% de co, de 0,020% ou menos de n, e o restante sendo fe e impurezas, em que um valor de m calculado por uma fórmula satisfaz -1,5 = valor de m = 1,5. fórmula: valor de m = -9,500 + 9,334[%c] - 0,275[%si] - 0,566[%w] - 0,404[%mo] + 3,980[%v] + 0,166[%co], onde os caracteres entre parênteses [] indicam as quantidades contidas (% em massa) dos respectivos elementos. a presente invenção também se refere a: um material para ferramentas, que é obtido usando o aço de ferramenta de alta velocidade; e um método para produzir o material para ferramentas.
