a invenção se refere ao aperfeiçoamento da eficiência e do manuseio de um aparelho de teste (4) para o teste de relés de proteção (2), sendo que, é descrito um método e um aparelho de teste (4), sendo que, em um aparelho de teste (4) um sinal (s) é gerado, o sinal (s) é colocado no relé de proteção (2). um dispositivo de adaptação (x) que se encontra no aparelho de teste (4) é alimentado por um acumulador (5) com uma tensão de alimentação (uv), por sua vez, o dispositivo de adaptação (x), por meio de uma tensão intermediária (ux) alimenta um gerador de sinal (g), o qual gera o sinal (s). o emprego de um acumulador (5) torna possível dispensar conjuntos de geradores alimentados por combustível. o emprego de um dispositivo de adaptação (x) torna possível, por exemplo, comutar a tensão de alimentação (uv) do acumulador (5) para pequenas tensões intermediárias (ux) e comutar as pequenas correntes do acumulador (5) para a alimentação do gerador de sinal (g) para correntes altas.
