um objeto da presente invenção é obter leveduras fermentativas que possuem produção de etanol altamente eficiente, sem introduzir um gene exógeno. um objeto adicionalmente éa obtenção de leveduras fermentativas que são resistentes a inibidores de proliferação, tais como ácidos orgânicos que impedem a proliferação de leveduras fermentativas. uma levedura apresentando uma capacidade de produção de etanol melhorada foi gerada introduzindo-se genes de transaldolase e álcool desidrogenase, por autoclonagem, à meyerozyma guilliermondii, que pode produzir de modo eficiente o etanol a partir de pentose e hexose obtida pela reprodução; e ainda reproduzindo-se as leveduras resultantes.
