Abstract

"MéTODOS, COMPOSIçõES E FATORES DE CRESCIMENTO E DE DIFERENCIAçãO PARA PRODUZIR CéLULAS PRODUTORAS DE INSULINA". A presente invenção refere-se a um método para converter células pancreáticas diferenciadas não produtoras de hormónio em células diferenciadas produtoras de hormónio. o método compreende duas etapas: primeiro, cultivar células sob condições que convertem células diferenciadas não produtoras de hormónio em células tronco, e, segundo, cultivar células tronco sob condições que proporcionam diferenciar células tronco em células produtoras de hormónio. A invenção define os fatores de crescimento e diferenciação que são apresentados às células tronco para resultar em sua diferenciação nas células produtoras de hormónio, especialmente células produtoras de insulina. A invenção oferece uma nova fonte de grandes quantidades de células produtoras de hormónio, tais como células produtoras de insulina, as quais não estão correntemente disponiveis para usos terapêuticos, tal como o tratamento de diabetes.
