Uma central elétrica (1) de acordo com a invenção compreende, pelo menos, uma turbina a vapor (5) e/ou uma turbina a gás (52) a qual, para a produção de frio, é ligada com pelo menos uma máquina de refrigeração de absorção (10), sendo que a máquina de refrigeração de absorção (10) é operada mediante vapor (12) extraído da turbina a vapor (5) ou mediante calor excedente (AH, AH<39>) da turbina a gás (52).
