O objeto da presente invenção é um reator de membrana para a produção de hidrogênio de alta pureza a partir de uma corrente de hidrocarbonetos e vapor de água, compreendendo uma membrana de difusão permeável para hidrogênio e eventualmente um catalisador para a transformação de hidrocarbonetos e para a separação do gás de hidrogênio do gás residual, sendo que a membrana e eventualmente o reator estão equipados com meios para o aquecimento.
