Abstract

"OTIMIZAçãO AUTOMáTICA DA POSIçãO DE TRAçOS PRINCIPAIS DE CARACTERES DE TEXTO". A presente invenção proporciona a colocação automática de características tipográficas tais como traços principais verticais ou segmentos horizontais de um caractere (205) nos limites de subcomponente de pixel de elevado contraste como parte de um processo de renderização que usa subcomponentes (202, 203, 204) de pixel separadamente controláveis dos pixels para representar porções diferentes do caractere (205). Para identificar as características tipográficas do caractere (205) que devem ser alinhadas com limites de subcomponente de pixel de elevado contraste, a topologia do caractere é analisada em tempo de execução. Em dispositivos de vídeo tendo faixas verticais de subcomponentes (202, 203, 204) de pixel da mesma cor, descobriu-se que a legibilidade do caractere é aumentada quando as bordas esquerdas dos traços principais (206) são alinhadas com limites (208) de elevado contraste entre subcomponentes de pixel. Tempo e recursos de processamento são preservados mediante realização de uma análise topológica parcial mais propriamente do que uma análise topológica completa do caractere.
