Abstract

"COMBINAçãO DE CONVERSOR CATALìTICO E FILTRO PARA DESCARGA DE MOTOR DE COMBUSTãO". é provida uma combinação de conversor catalítico e filtro (10) para escape de motor de combustão interna, por um elemento de escoamento unitário simples possuindo um lado dianteiro a montante (14) e um lado posterior a jusante (16). O elemento possui vários canais de fluxo (18) estendendo-se axialmente a partir do lado dianteiro a montante para o lado posterior a jusante. Cada canal possui paredes laterais esquerda e direita (20 e 22) formadas por meio filtrante pregueado (24) e paredes superior e inferior formadas pelas respectivas camadas limitantes superior e inferior (26 e 28). As paredes laterais esquerda e direita (20 e 22) estendem-se axial e continuamente a partir do lado dianteiro a montante para o lado posterior a jusante. As paredes laterais (20 e 22) possuem primeiras seções a montante (30, 32) próximas ao lado dianteiro a montante (14) e segunda seções a jusante (34,36) próximas ao lado posterior a jusante (16). Uma das seções é uma seção catalítica (33) tratada com um catalisador para o escape. A outra das seções é uma seção filtrante (35) possuindo vedações de bloqueio axial e alternadamente espaçadas (38, 40) em canais alternados (48, 44), tal que, o escape deve passar através do meio filtrante pregueado (24) . A seção catalítica pode estar a montante ou a jusante da seção filtrante. Uma seção filtrante pode estar aninhada axialmente entre as duas seções catalíticas, bem como outras combinações e sequenciamento. A seção filtrante pode adicionalmente ser tratada com o catalisador.
