"MéTODO E APARELHO PARA CONTROLAR UMA CAIXA DE ENGRENAGEM AUTOMáTICA". Trata-se de um processo e de um arranjo para controlar uma caixa de engrenagens automatizada: em que combinações de engrenagens possíveis para o acionamento são determinadas; os pontos de operação para a combinação de engrenagens são determinados; o consumo específico de combustível nos ditos pontos de operação é determinado; a combinação de engrenagens com o menos consumo de combustível específico é selecionada; um sinal de comando para mudar para a engrenagem selecionada é emitido.
