Uma linha de montagem e processamento de chassi de automóvel é feita de uma pluralidade de unidades centrais ao longo da qual são transportadas e fornecidas as peças a serem montadas e processadas e além da linha assim formada estão unidades laterais associadas nas quais são montadas as máquinas de operação manualmente controladas ou robotizadas bem como o equipamento de operação e controle auxiliar. As unidades laterais que formam subtotais montados são conectáveis às respectivas unidades centrais através das conexões separáveis preparadas.
