Abstract
The cap screws initially onto the neck (4) of a bottle (5) until internal projections (2) snap into a neck groove. A guarantee band (10), once removed permits it to be screwed slightly further to break a diaphragm (6) fixed to the bottle neck. - Tight screwing causes an internal spiral blade projection (12) to cut through the diaphragm seal. The inside end (12') of the blade projection partially lifts the seal by being curved inwards thus allowing the seal to be grasped and removed completely.
Description
"Screw cap for a container
the neck of which is provided with a tear-off seal "This invention relates to a screw-on closure cap for a container the neck of which is provided with a tear-off cover.
The object of the invention is to provide a plug with which, after rotation thereof, the user can easily grasp a part of the cover and cause it to be completely torn off.
To this end, the closure plug according to the invention has internally a spiral blade which, when the cap is screwed onto the neck of the container, penetrates into the aforementioned seal and cuts out part of it, the blade having a so-called "rear" end considering the direction of rotation of the blade, which is bent inwardly of the spiral blade to lift the cover.
Still according to the invention, the closure plug according to the invention comprises at its base a tearable ring bearing on the container and preventing untimely screwing of the plug as long as the aforementioned blade has not penetrated into the aforementioned seal.
Other details and advantages of the invention will emerge from the description which will be given below of a closure plug according to the invention. This description is given by way of example only and does not limit the invention. The reference notations refer to the appended figures.
Figure 1 is a sectional view of the closure plug clipped to the neck of a container and before tearing off the security strip. FIG. 2 is a top view showing both the notched cover and the spiral blade of the stopper according to FIG. 1.
The plug 1 represented by these figures, internally has a first projection 2, called clipping, which is intended to enclose the external projection 3 of the neck 4 of the container 5.
On the upper part of the neck 4 of the container 5 is fixed, by a conduction welding process, a cover 6 which has been fixed beforehand before the plug 1 is affixed.
The neck 4 of the container 5 also has an external screw thread 7 intended to cooperate with an internal screw thread 8, formed inside the cylindrical part 9 of the plug 1.
On the other hand, the cylindrical part 9 of the plug 1 has a safety ring or tearable ring 6, provided with a tear-off tab 11. As long as the ring 10 has not been torn off, the plug 1 cannot be pressed into the cover 10.
The essential characteristic of the closure plug according to the invention is the presence, on the internal face of the plug 1, of a spiral blade 12. This spiral blade 12 has the characteristic of having its so-called "rear" end 12 'slightly curved inward of the spiral.
This means that when the plug 1 is screwed onto the neck 4 of the container 5 by making the threads 7 and 8 cooperate, the spiral blade 12 is pressed into the cover 6 and cuts therefrom a notch which has a shape such that the user can grasp this cover and completely tear it off. This is made all the easier since the curved part 12 ′ of the spiral blade 12 has slightly raised the cover upwards. After unscrewing the cap, the user easily grasps this raised part of the cover and can tear it off entirely.
It is known in fact that the lids which seal bottles or containers are frequently notched with a knife and the user then has great difficulty in grasping part of the lid by tearing it off completely, while using the plug according to the invention, provided with its spiral blade, this stripping operation is considerably facilitated.
The screw thread used is, obviously, a quick step that does not tolerate a 360 [deg.] Rotation of the plug. In this case, the cover would be completely cut, which is not the object of the invention.
It is understood that the invention is not limited to the embodiment which has just been given and that many modifications could be made to it without departing from the scope of the present patent application.
