<EMI ID=1.1>
<EMI ID=2.1>
<EMI ID=3.1>
<EMI ID=4.1>
<EMI ID=5.1>
<EMI ID=6.1>

"Ridge or hip stopper with ventilation
improved "Ridge or hip stopper with improved ventilation.
The invention relates to improvements made to the ridge or hip closure according to the patent.
<EMI ID = 1.1>
to improve the ventilation of the underside of a tiled roof or similar.
It is recalled that the aforementioned patent has for object
a ridge or hip stopper comprising, on the one hand, a central chord capable of covering the ridge or hip and to be fixed on the wood of these parts and, on the other hand, two lateral elements engaged under the lateral edges of said member and capable of covering the adjacent covering elements, said lateral elements being carried by said member.
In a preferred embodiment of this shutter, the lateral elements are made of a material which is sufficiently malleable to be able to be shaped on the spot, during assembly, with a view to marrying the relief of the covering elements. These lateral elements called "mud flaps" are, for example, made of lead and are shaped on site by the roofers to the profile of the covering elements, in particular of tiles, whether these are sliding concrete tiles or whether they are
terracotta.
The central member of the shutter is made of a rigid material such as zinc or a zinc-rich alloy,
preferably a zinc-copper-titanium alloy.
The flaps are simply carried by the central member, to which they are suspended by a two-ply fastening system, as described in the
<EMI ID = 2.1>
to use auxiliary fixing means.
As described in French patent n [deg.] 77 02 668, the ridge cap can be put in place by fixing
<EMI ID = 3.1>
use of mortar.
This shutter has proven to be very effective in protecting against water infiltration or
snow and, in this respect, it gives full satisfaction to users.
It appeared, however, that it was desirable to ventilate the underside of the roofing in order to eliminate the condensation water which can be deposited on the underside of the tiles. Indeed, this water of condensation risks to trickle on the internal face
of the cover, causing material damage similar to that of seepage water. In the past, this risk was insignificant, since condensation only occurred occasionally. However, with the growing interest now presented by satisfactory thermal insulation of buildings, it is more and more common to thermally insulate roofs, with the consequence of a significant risk.
condensation on the tiles.
The present invention aims precisely to remedy this drawback by proposing an improvement to the ridge clasp mentioned above, with a view to ensuring fully satisfactory ventilation of the lower surface of the covering elements and thus eliminating the nuisances caused by the water.
To this end, the subject of the present invention is
a ridge or hip stopper of the type described in French patent n [deg.] 77 02 668, characterized in that ventilation openings are provided
in the lateral parts of the rigid central member covering the ridge or the hipbone.
These openings, which serve as ventilation louvers, can be of absolutely any shape, size and relative position. It suffices, in fact, to provide an appropriate air inlet opening, for example at the level of the roof sewer, to thereby create a spontaneous air flow between this inlet.
of air and the so-called gills and to ensure regular and continuous ventilation, by the ridge or the hip,
of the underside of the cover.
Preferably, the openings will be simply made by stamping the lateral parts of
the central frame, pushing them from the inside to the outside, so as to give them a profile
in awning which opposes the entry of runoff water or snow under the shutter.
The single figure of the appended drawing, which has no limiting character, illustrates one form of implementation of the invention.
This figure schematically represents a ridge closure according to French patent n [deg.] 77 02 668, this closure comprising a rigid central frame 1, made of zinc or zinc alloy, intended to cover the ridge or hip and to be fixed to the frame thereof, this frame having a central part 1a and
<EMI ID = 4.1>
from the center to the cover. Two lead 2 side flaps, suspended from the side parts
<EMI ID = 5.1>
place roof elements to equip, for example tiles.
According to the invention, the lateral parts
<EMI ID = 6.1>
as described above, to allow a permanent stream of air to settle under the cover thereby avoiding the condensation of water under the underside of the cover elements. These openings 3 are obtained by stamping the zinc from the underside to the outer face of the frame 1, so as to push the metal outward, in the manner of an awning, thus avoiding the penetration of the runoff under the shutter. In the case of the drawings
these openings 3, forming ventilation openings, have a trapezoidal section close to a rectangle and are arranged at regular intervals in two parallel rows, with a shift of a half-interval from one row to another. Those skilled in the art will naturally be able to choose any other shape and any other arrangement for the openings 3, according to the characteristics of the roof to be fitted, without departing from the scope of the invention.
Thanks to these ventilation openings, the shutter according to the present invention not only protects the roof against water or snow infiltration, but also provides ventilation of the cover, thereby eliminating the material damage caused by water. of condensation.
