<EMI ID=1.1>
<EMI ID=2.1>
- la figure 1 montre en perspective un mur de soutènement en voie de construction par le procédé suivant l'invention ;
- les figures 2 à 4 montrent les différentes phases de construction d'un mur de quai le long d'une berge ;
- la figure 5 est une coupe transversale d'un mur de quai composé d'éléments suivant l'invention ;
- la figure 6 est une vue en plan du mur de quai représenté à la figure 4 ;
- la figure 7 montre en perspective un élément préfabriqué dont la partie servant de tirant s'élargit aux extrémités ;
<EMI ID=3.1>
- la plaque de parement 7 a une hauteur de 6 m et une largeur de 7 m ;
- la partie formant tirant 9 a une largeur de 0.40 m et une hauteur de 2 m. Cette partie s'évase aux abouts jusqu'à 6 m de hauteur ;

The present invention relates to a method of constructing a wall intended to take up the pushing of earth, as well as to elements usable in this method.
The invention relates more particularly to a

bajoyer and the like.
Various methods of building retaining walls and quay walls are known.
One of the known methods consists in constructing a solid wall of concrete or masonry in an excavation previously obtained by cuttings. This massive wall has a large raft possibly supported on the ground at the bottom of the excavation or on foundation piles. After the construction of the wall, the excavation can be backfilled at least on one side of the wall.
This process has the drawback of allowing the construction of a wall in an excavation only after having previously carried out significant excavation and lowered the aquifer or ground water or removed the water from the excavation. It is then necessary to beat the sheet piles to a sufficient depth and pump the water out of the excavation.
Another drawback of this known method lies in the fact that the lowering of the aquifer can cause significant damage to neighboring constructions. In addition, the volume of concrete to be put
work or masonry to be performed for the construction of a wall of this type is considerable.
There is also known a second method of constructing a retaining wall, known as reinforced earth, and consisting of superimposing and juxtaposing in a excavation elements made up of plates, for example of precast concrete, to which anchor strips are fixed. lateral, for example in the form of flat irons.
In this known process, the grains of a solid mass of earth are joined by reinforcements made up of flat bars which are, in general, galvanized. Prefabricated concrete plates are anchored in the flat bars, which are juxtaposed and superimposed
to form the facing of the wall.
This second known method has the drawback of not
not be achievable underwater. Furthermore, it is
to be rejected when the water is corrosive. Finally,
it can only be used in successive layers of relatively small thickness.
The present invention aims to remedy the drawbacks of known methods and relates to a method of constructing a wall intended to resume the thrust of earth, in which elements are juxtaposed and superimposed each provided with a part intended to form

perform the function of tie rod. This process is essentially characterized in that the tensile force of the tie-forming parts is taken up by an anchoring part provided at the end of the tie-forming parts opposite the integral end of the parts forming the facing face.
According to a feature of the invention, elements are used in one piece, each comprising a rectangular plate, one face of which forms
facing face and the other of which is secured to one end of a tie rod, the other end of which is secured to an anchor plate.
The elements are advantageously guided during their installation, in particular the part intended for the facing face of the elements and / or the anchoring plate thereof. Laminated profiles are preferably used which eventually remain in place when the wall is finished.
According to another feature of the invention, the guides are provided with means for keeping each element of the lower row in a horizontal position.
elements of the wall.
The method is particularly suitable for the construction of an underwater wall. We then plant vertically under water, beams intended to serve as a guide
to the above elements, a first element is deposited
on stops carried by the beams, we form
concrete footings at the base of the facing plate and possibly at the base of the anchor plate
of the first element installed, the area delimited by the anchor plate is backfilled with earth or sand
and the facing plate of this first element, starting from the side of the anchoring plate, up to a predetermined level lower than the level of the upper edge of the facing plate and of the anchoring plate of this first element, a second element is superimposed on the first element, the area delimited by the anchoring plate and the facing plate of this first element is filled with earth or sand, to a predetermined level lower than the level of the upper edge of the facing plate of this second element, starting with the anchoring plate and ending with the facing plate of this second element, the operations of placing additional elements and backfilling are repeated until reaching the desired height from the wall.
The invention also relates to an element intended to be used by the method described above. This process is essentially characterized in that it comprises a rectangular plate, intended to form
the facing face of the wall, a tie secured to the face opposite to the facing face of the above-mentioned plate and an anchoring piece secured to the opposite end of the tie. The anchoring piece advantageously consists of a plate substantially parallel to the facing plate.
In a preferred embodiment, the element according to the invention is prefabricated in possibly reinforced and / or prestressed concrete.
The anchoring plate is advantageously provided with a guide pin. Its dimensions are smaller than those of the facing plate.
Other details and particularities of the invention will appear in the following description and the attached drawings which relate to some forms.
of the invention, given only by way of nonlimiting examples.
In these drawings:
- Figure 1 shows in perspective a retaining wall under construction by the method according to the invention;
- Figures 2 to 4 show the different phases of construction of a quay wall along a bank;
- Figure 5 is a cross section of a quay wall composed of elements according to the invention;
- Figure 6 is a plan view of the quay wall shown in Figure 4;
- Figure 7 shows in perspective a prefabricated element whose part serving as a tie widens at the ends;
- Figure 8 shows a similar view of a prefabricated element whose tie rod part is a spatial metal beam of parallelepiped shape.
In these various figures, the same reference symbols are used to designate identical or equivalent elements.
FIG. 1 illustrates a method of constructing a retaining wall according to the invention, generally designated by the reference notation 1.
After having been carried out along an embankment, an excavation which is designated as a whole by the reference notation 2. The width of the excavation 2 corresponds substantially to the length of the construction elements 3 according to the invention and the depth is greater to that of the slope from which the thrust of the land must be resumed.
It is possible to hammer in, in rigorously marked positions, a series of beams 4 made up of laminated profiles in double T.
A first series of beams 4 is driven in line along the facing face 5 of the future retaining wall. A second series of beams 4 is driven along a line 6 substantially parallel to the first but distant from the latter by a distance corresponding to the length of the construction elements 3.
As can be seen in FIG. 1, the distance between two consecutive beams 4 along the first series of beams corresponds to the width of the rectangular facing plates 7. This length can for example be 6 to 7 meters. These beams 4 serve
slides to guide the positioning of the elements
which slide along these beams 4 on either side of each core 8. These beams 4 are driven to a depth sufficient to support the weight of an element 3.
The construction elements 3 are each provided with a part 7 intended to form the facing face 5
of the wall 1, of a part 9 intended to fulfill the function of tie rod and of a part 10 forming an anchoring part.
The beams 4 are provided beforehand with stops
11 to maintain in horizontal position each element of the lower row of elements of the retaining wall. The first elements are deposited on these stops 11 carried by the beams 4 and the flanges are formed
of concrete 12 poured under water at the base of the facing face of the elements placed and possibly at the base of the anchor plate 10.
The area delimited by the anchoring plate and the facing plate of this first element is backfilled with earth or sand, to a predetermined level below the level of the upper edge of the facing plate 7 and of the plate. anchor 10 of this first element, starting from the side of the anchor plate.
A second element 3 is then superimposed on the first element and the area delimited by the anchoring plate 10 and the facing plate 7 of this second element 3 is filled with earth or sand, starting on the side of the plate d anchoring 10 of the second element to a predetermined level lower than that of the upper edge of the facing plate 7 of this second element 3.
The operations of placing additional elements 3 and backfilling are repeated until the desired height of the wall 1 is reached.
The above-mentioned elements 3 can be made up as prefabricated elements or possibly cast in their final place.
If the elements 3 are prefabricated, it is possible, to increase the tightness and the rigidity of the wall thus obtained, inject cement into the interstices
between the beams 4 and the prefabricated elements.
The dimension of the prefabricated elements 3 and their number depends on the height of the embankment, the thrust of the earth to be taken up, the overloads above the embankment, the presence or not of a water table and finally the handling possibilities.
The method according to the invention makes it possible to construct a quay wall or a bajoyer in a similar manner,
along a bank or in the open sea.
Figure 2 shows the bank 13 of a channel. Consider the water level as the reference level 0.00 m. The level of land 14 near the bank 12 is for example + 4.00 m. The bottom 15
from the canal to the level - 20.00 m.
An excavation 2 of determined shape is optionally carried out by dredging, for example a excavation having the form a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h shown in FIG. 3.
Two ditches a, b, c, d, and e, f, g, h form the bottom of excavation 2 at level -24.00 m.
The elements 3 intended to form the lower layer have respectively for each of the three parts
<EMI ID = 3.1>
- the facing plate 7 has a height of 6 m and a width of 7 m;
- the part forming the tie 9 has a width of 0.40 m and a height of 2 m. This part flares at butt ends up to 6 m in height;
- the rear anchor plate 10 has a height of 6 m and a width of 2 m.
The distance between the ditches a, b, c, d, and e, f, g, h corresponds to the length of the pulling part 9 of the lower element 3.
A series of beams 4 are pressed under water, possibly by beating, into positions marked with precision, in a manner similar to the example above. The stops 11 are fixed beforehand on each of the beams 4, for example by welding at a selected height so that after the beams are pushed in, the stops 11 are in the same horizontal plane or allow a correct position of the element to establish.
The area delimited by the anchoring plate 10 and the facing plate 7 of this first element 3, is backfilled with earth or sand: =, starting on the side of the anchoring plate 10 and ending on the side of the facing plate? Fresh earth or dredged sand can be used for backfilling.
Next, a second element, possibly the same length as the first, is juxtaposed or superimposed on the first element 3 and backfilled as indicated above.
The operations of placing additional elements 3 and backfilling are repeated until the desired height of the wall 1 is reached.
All these operations can be carried out under water, without the need to lower the aquifer or groundwater.
It is obvious that the invention is not limited to the details described above and that numerous modifications can be made to these details without departing from the scope of the invention.
Thus the pulling part of the construction element according to the invention may consist of a beam or a metal frame.
T he process allows to juxtapose a first series of elements, preferably of the same length and to superimpose a second series of elements of length shorter than that of the elements of the first series
and a third series of elements of length less than that of the second and so on, so as to form a wall having a substantially planar facing face, the anchoring parts leaving the vertical alignment.
