<EMI ID=1.1>

Pumping process and apparatus for dry cleaning.
The present invention relates to a method and. a pumping machine for cleaning and earthmoving and more particularly a method and a pumping machine for dry cleaning and for earthmoving by hydraulic felling.
Among the civil engineering works, a distinction must be made between dredging works and those of earthworks or dry cleaning. The first are works whose principle is to evacuate land, rock or any alluvium from the bottom of the sea, lakes and streams by working directly underwater. The latter are intended to move any rock, earth or alluvium by operating in the open air, that is to say on a naturally dry or dry site for the occasion, regardless of whether the attack on the rock bed, earth or alluvium is carried out using different shoveling techniques or by means of hydraulic force, for example with a water cannon.
The cleaning works and those of earthworks carried out in dry site being thus different only by their goal, but not by their nature, the invention is described below with reference to the case of dry cleaning, although it is applicable to earthwork in general.
Dry cleaning finds its applications not only in the maintenance of rivers and natural ponds or lakes, but also in the evacuation of sediments accumulated in basins and settling ponds associated with different industries and stations of purification.
The known means for dry cleaning include the various machines with shovels, buckets or chains, among others, and machines bringing into play the living force of water, in particular water cannons. The fact that the living force of the water is exploited to disintegrate the solid mass which must be removed does not in any way prevent the construction site from being considered as a dry site, since there is no immersion of the tools.
We already know, in particular from Belgian patent n [deg.] 488.003, a process for hydraulically executing cuttings, embankments and similar works, in hard and hard terrains, which consists in attacking these terrains by water jets of suitable power and to conduct the resulting sludge, in particular by gravity, to a collecting sump from where they are taken up by suction, for example using a pump or sucker, and transported and channeled in storage locations or use.
This same patent describes, for the application of this process, an installation comprising a pump or other means for obtaining water under suitable pressure, at least one device for forming a ground scouring jet, with adjustable nozzle, a pipe for bringing the pressurized water from the pump or other means to said scour jet device, a transport channel and a sump, preferably located below, to which the channel ends, a suction device or pump sucking the sludge into the sump and a pipe for evacuating the sludge sucked by said suction device or pump.
In particular, in the traditional case, the sludge is extracted from the sump by means of a suction pump provided with a sieve plunging into the sump. By far the most important disadvantage of the conventional system is that the suction height does not exceed 2 m in practice. Indeed, to be able to suck sludge both fluid and loaded with coarse hard bodies, a pump must be designed with a certain clearance to the rotor, so that as soon as the suction height reaches 2 m, the efficiency drops to values inadmissible and the operation of the pump is accompanied by jolts and phenomena of
<EMI ID = 1.1>
by bringing the pump into the sump, since the delivery height of a pump is not limited by the Torricelli principle.
Although the principle of submersible pumps is well known, it should be noted that this is not a case of working with submerged tools, but rather of bringing the pump inside the sump in order to always make it work by discharge with a negligible suction height, which is a novelty in the field of pumping of sewage sludge. The suction of the pump could be provided with a short tube (of the order of a meter) so that the operation of the pump can be constant. In practice, however, the pump is immersed in the sludge to be extracted from the sump. These are details of site organization which do not restrict the principle of the invention.
On the other hand, the pump is mounted on a vehicle facilitating access to the site and the maneuvers on it.
More particularly, the subject of the invention is a method of evacuating sludge after hydraulic execution of dry cleaning and other similar earthworks in hard or hard ground, according to which these grounds are attacked by jets of water of suitable power. and the resulting sludge is led to a collecting sump, characterized in that the sludge is taken up in the collecting sump by means of a discharge pump situated at the bottom of the sump and is transported and channeled to storage or disposal locations. 'use.
The subject of the invention is also a pumping device for dry cleaning by hydraulic slaughter allowing the application of the method of the invention, which essentially comprises a vehicle on which is mounted a sling carrying a delivery pump bringing and now the latter at the bottom of the collecting sump, the pump being actuated by a motor unit by means of a transmission.
In a preferred embodiment, the motor unit is mounted on the vehicle so as to counterbalance the strainer and the pump, and the vehicle carries the transmission, in addition to a control cabin for the attendant operating the pump.
According to a first variant, the transmission between the motor unit and the pump is an articulated mechanical transmission comprising a motor shaft articulated by cardan joints and a friction coupling.
According to a second variant, the transmission between the engine group and the pump is hydraulic.
According to a third variant, the transmission between the engine group and the pump is pneumatic.
According to a fourth variant, the engine group is a generator and the transmission between the engine group and the pump is electric.
According to a fifth variant, the generator set is replaced by a connection to the electrical energy distribution network.
According to a sixth variant, the transmission to the pump is hybrid between the various aforementioned systems.
The object of the invention is described in more detail in its preferred embodiment with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a side elevation view of the machine, and FIG. 2 is a plan view of the machine.
As shown in FIG. 1, the machine 1 comprises a vehicle 2, which in this case is a semi-trailer for ease of maneuvering on the road and around the site and to allow savings on the motorized cart. The semi-trailer 2 which has, for example, an overall width of 3 m and an overall length, when the pump carrier 3 is approximately horizontal, of 18.5 m, preferably comprises two trains of rear wheels 4 and 5, advantageously fitted with low pressure tires. The wedging means of the semi-trailer on the side of the drawbar of the latter is not shown.
The semi-trailer 2 carries an engine unit 6 which is advantageously a diesel engine provided with a gearbox (not shown), remotely controlled by any conventional means from the cabin 7 by the attendant to print the transmission speed 8 suitable rotation. The mass and location of the power unit 6 provide more than enough moment with respect to the rope 3 carrying the pump 9 so that special anchoring devices are not necessary to ensure the stability of the semi-trailer when it is in the working position on site. Advantageously, the engine group is housed in a cabin. The rope 3 carried by the semi-trailer 2 is actuated from the cabin 7 by jacks 10 which make it possible to lower the rope 3 if necessary to a substantially vertical position.
The actuation by jack is supplemented by a safety system 11 with rack and pin making it possible to retain the strain 3 in position without stressing the circuit of the hydraulic jack. Elinde 3 carries at its free end a treading pump 9. The treading pump, for example with a diameter of about 1.5 m, is designed to be lowered directly into the sludge collecting sump from which it discharges the sludge which is sucked in by the inlet 12 and discharged through the outlet 13 in a pipe not shown. The pump 5 is preceded by a safety coupling 14 which intervenes in the event of the pump 9 seizing up, either by rupture of a part designed for this purpose, or by slipping of a clutch.
The transmission 8 from the motor unit 6 to the pump 9 is, in the preferred case, an articulated mechanical transmission comprising a transmission shaft 15 mounted on bearings, only one of which is numbered 16, and articulated by cardan joints, including one only 17 is numbered. The transmission 8 further comprises a return box 18 equipped, for example, with pulleys and V-belts, not shown in detail. The assembly of universal joints 17 and of the return box 18 gives the articulation flexibility to the transmission 8.
Taking into account that from its articulation point 19 in the semi-trailer to the end of the pump 9, the tilting jib has a length of approximately 7 m and the fact that the articulation point 19 is located about 1.5 m above ground level, it is obvious that the pump can be brought to about 5.5 m below the ground level accessible to semi-trailer 2, which is a difference significantly higher than the suction height possible for suction pumps. The overall height of the vehicle is 4.3 m.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same vehicle with the arrow in a nearly horizontal position; the same organs are identified by the same reference numbers.
